Four Lemont High School students were honored with April “Student of the Month” accolades at the district’s Board of Education meeting on April 21. Included among the honorees were senior Tom Sahs (English), junior Nour Efein (Industrial Technology), sophomore Kurt Bernabei (Social Studies) and freshman Andrea Ojeda (Learning Resource Center). By placing among the state’s top competitors in his category, Lemont High School junior Dan Wang kept alive the school’s streak of medalists at the Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge State Finals, which were contested on April 9 on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Head coach Tim Leffler’s squad finished 11th of 18 teams in Division 1500 (enrollments of 701-1500 students) at the state finals. Three Lemont High School football players will continue their careers next fall by playing for institutions in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), one of the top NCAA Division III football conferences in the country. Tight end Ethan Chester will play at Carthage College; linebacker Drew Hayes will play at North Central College; and offensive tackle Connor Melvin will play at Illinois Wesleyan University. Lemont High School has announced its “Our Books, Our School” selections for the 2014-15 school year. Over the summer, students will have their choice of four young adult novels selected by a committee of the school’s faculty and staff. In addition to choosing from the “Our Books, Our School” list, students in Honors and Advanced Placement level English courses will be responsible for additional summer reading assignments. Read More
Lemont High School has announced its revised end-of-year schedule, as well as its schedule for second-semester Final Exams. The inclement weather days that were necessary over the winter have pushed back both the end of the school year and the final exam schedule. Read More
Students from Lemont High School’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) placed among the top ten in nine of the 15 categories in which they were entered at the 2014 Illinois FBLA State Leadership Conference, which was held in Springfield, Ill., on March 28-29. The 2014 FBLA State Leadership Conference featured more than 70 event categories and attracted more than 1,450 student competitors from across the state. Read More
