Last fall, I joined with District 113A Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel to alert you of legislation being considered in Springfield that had the potential to remove nearly $2 million annually from Lemont schools and affect the students we serve. Unfortunately, under the newly proposed Senate Bill 1 – the School Funding Reform Act of 2015 – the schools that serve the Lemont community once again could be facing a tremendous loss in state funding. At its Organizational Board of Education meeting on Monday, May 4, Lemont High School District 210 seated its recently elected Board of Education members and also reelected three individuals to two-year terms as officers. Read More
For the sixth straight year, Lemont High School will see multiple representatives battling for titles in journalism state finals competition. Seniors Ally Gawrys and Josh Traynere and junior Chloe Mars all finished among the top three in their respective categories at the IHSA Joliet West Sectional on April 25, qualifying them to compete at the 2015 IHSA Journalism State Finals, which will be contested on the campus of Eastern Illinois University on Friday, May 1. Traynere is making a repeat trip to the state finals, while Gawrys and Mars advanced for the first time. Read More
Lemont High School will host its annual “Senior Citizen Spring Social” in conjunction with a dress rehearsal of its Spring Musical on Wednesday, May 13. A reception will be held from 5:45-6:45 p.m., prior to a 7 p.m. showing of Mary Poppins. The event is free of charge and is geared toward adults ages 55 and over, giving them a chance to mingle with the school’s students. Lemont High School’s award-winning band has won state championships, appeared on television, and played a wide variety of high profile events. However, Lemont’s band recently learned it will be part of an historic event. The first-ever “We Day Illinois” will take place at Allstate Arena in Rosemont on Thursday, April 30, and the Lemont band will be one of only two bands from the state that will take part. Read More
A Tony Award winning Broadway work first made famous on the silver screen is set to swoop in and land on Lemont High School’s stage. The school’s Performing Arts Center will feature Mary Poppins for nightly performances from Thursday, May 14, through Saturday, May 16. Read More
The Lemont High School Educational Foundation has committed to supporting nine grants for more than $65,000 for the 2015-16 school year. Grant proposals were submitted by Lemont High School faculty and staff, with the goal of enhancing educational opportunities for the school’s enrollment of more than 1,400 students. This marks the third straight year that the LHSEF has pledged a record amount of funding within one grants cycle. Read More

Included among the honorees were senior Jarrod Kopping (English), junior Matt Lassak (Industrial Technology), sophomore Ali Kramer (Social Studies) and freshman Matt Nachtwey (Learning Resource Center).
