FROM THE OFFICE OF

Dr. Mary Ticknor

As Lemont High School students enter the homestretch of the 2012-13 school year, learning remains our top priority. However, upcoming non-academic milestone events – including Prom and Graduation – will supply students with life-long memories. Prom activities and graduation parties generate a lot of fun, but unfortunately some students make poor choices during these festivities by consuming alcoholic beverages or partaking in drug use. The combination of driving and drinking or drug use is a frightening thought for all of us, especially when it involves young people. Read More

Athletics

Lemont High School's athletic program has become one of the most successful programs in the Chicagoland area over the last several years. Competing in the South Suburban Conference, Lemont teams have enjoyed success at the conference, local and state levels.

In February 2009, the school added its first-ever team state championship trophy when Lemont captured the 2009 IHSA Cheerleading State Championship in the Medium Division. Not long after, wrestler Angel Cabral '10 became just the second Lemont student-athlete in school history to record an individual state championship when he earned the 285-pound title at the 2009 Class 2A Individual Wrestling State Championship.

In February 2010, Lemont's athletic program reached new heights. Its cheerleading squad repeated as the IHSA Medium Division State Champion. Soon after, for the first time in program history, two Lemont wrestlers captured titles at the IHSA Class 2A Individual Wrestling State Finals. Cabral repeated as the 285-pound state champion, and Matt Leibforth '10 became the school's first-ever undefeated state champion when he triumphed in the 135-pound weight class. Leibforth finished his final season with a 45-0 record.

Lemont's cheerleading squad won its third consecutive IHSA Medium Division State Championship in February 2011.

Nick Bromberek '00 became the first Lemont student-athlete to win an individual state championship when he won the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and long jump at the 2000 IHSA Boys' Track and Field State Championship.
