Deaf Awareness Week


TODAY MARKS THE BEGINNING OF DEAF AWARENESS WEEK AT LEMONT HIGH SCHOOL. PLEASE STOP BY THE COMMONS ANNEX TO CHECK OUT SOME ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY USED BY THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING AND TO WATCH 'THE HAMMER' - AN INSPIRATIONAL TRUE STORY OF DEAF UFC FIGHTER MATT HAMILL.

WE ARE ALSO SELLING $1 RAFFLE TICKETS FOR A CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF SEVERAL FABULOUS PRIZES, INCLUDING ITUNES GIFT CARDS, AN ASL DICTIONARY, AND MORE. STAY TUNED LATER IN THE WEEK FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR "I LOVE YOU" COOKIE SALE AND THE HEARING CHALLENGE. EVERY DOLLAR WE RAISE WILL GO TO FUND THE 'WALK FOR HEARING.' Student Council Blood Drive


STUDENT COUNCIL WILL SPONSOR ITS ANNUAL FALL BLOOD DRIVE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, FROM 8:30 A.M.-2:30 P.M. IN THE OLD WRESTLING ROOM OF THE GYM. TO BE A BLOOD DONOR YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE WITH WRITTEN PARENT PERMISSION, WEIGH AT LEAST 110 POUNDS, BE SYMPTOM FREE OF COLDS OR FLU, AND BE IN GENERAL GOOD HEALTH. EVERY DONOR WILL RECEIVE ZIPPER EAR BUDS. IT’S GHOUL TO GIVE BLOOD. TELL YOUR FRIENDS. SAVE A LIFE.

NEXT WEEK, THE DEAF & HARD OF HEARING PROGRAM WILL BE OFFERING A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE DEAF AWARENESS. EACH DAY YOU CAN LEARN A NEW SIGN, LEARN ABOUT DEAF CULTURE AND ADAPTIVE DEVICES, AND SIGN UP FOR A RAFFLE. STOP BY ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, TO BUY AN “I LOVE YOU COOKIE” AND PICK UP YOUR EAR PLUGS FOR THE “HEARING CHALLENGE” THAT WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23. JOIN THE DHH STUDENTS IN THE ANNEX AT A SPECIAL LUNCH TABLE TO WATCH VIDEOS THAT PROMOTE DEAF ACTORS AND DEAF CULTURE. ALL PROCEEDS GENERATED BY ACTIVITIES WILL BE DONATED TO “WALK FOR HEARING.” PLEASE STOP BY!

PSAT Exam


THE PSAT EXAM IS TOMORROW - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18! PLEASE PLAN ON ARRIVING AT THE PORTER STREET ENTRANCE BY 7:45 A.M. ROOM ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE POSTED ON THE WALL IN THE N100 HALLWAY. YOU SHOULD BRING YOR PHOTO ID, CALCULATOR, AND A COUPLE OF SHARPENED PENCILS. THE EXAM SHOULD BE FINISHED BY 11:30 A.M. SEE MRS. MALAK IN THE PPS OFFICE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
