For the third time straight season – and the fourth time in five years – Lemont High School’s Dance program will take part in state finals competition. Head coach Jordan Fandrey’s squad finished fifth at one of two IHSA Class 2A Sectionals at Geneva High School on January 20. That effort earned the Indians a berth to the 2018 IHSA Class 2A Competitive Dance State Finals, which will be contested on Friday, January 26, and Saturday, January 27, at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington. Lemont will be looking to improve on last year’s 14th-place effort, which is the program’s best state finals finish since Competitive Dance became an IHSA-sponsored sport during the 2012-13 school year. Four Lemont High School students were honored with January “Student of the Month” accolades at the district’s Board of Education meeting on January 16. Included among the honorees were senior Nick Swalec (Special Education), junior Neha Kapur (Student Services), sophomore Abigail Belsan (Driver Education) and freshman Ralpa Aloya (Health). Read More
Several Lemont High School students put forth standout efforts while participating in national language exams in French and Spanish last spring. Three students – Class of 2017 graduates Mira Antonopoulos, Claudia Jazowski and Natasha Joseph – joined a select club by earning their fourth National Spanish Exam medals, while current junior Stephanie Valle and former student Jorge Garcia-Arcicollar each earned top honors on their exams. At its December 18 meeting, the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education received an update on how the World Languages Department is benefitting from the school’s new 1:1 teaching and learning program. This was the third in a series of presentations to the Board of Education by Lemont High School’s academic departments during the 2017-18 school year. Read More
Lemont High School seniors Emma Bozue (Violin), Kara Kirkus (Clarinet), Julie Stanwyck (Violin), Aaron Swenson (Piano) and Matthew Swick (Contrabass Clarinet) will participate in the upcoming Illinois Music Education Conference (IMEC), which will be held from January 25-27 at the Peoria Civic Center. The five all-state honorees is a single-year record for the school’s music program. Read More
Lemont High School hosted its annual National Honor Society induction ceremony on Wednesday, November 15, in the school’s Performing Arts Center. Standout students from both the junior and senior classes - 113 students in all - were welcomed into the Harold Julian Chapter of the National Honor Society. This year’s honorees join 98 members of the Class of 2018 who were inducted a year ago. Read More
