Lemont High School’s Varsity Poms team completed its 2009-10 season with a pair of top-ten finishes at the 2010 Team Dance Illinois State Championship, which was held at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Ill., on Sunday, March 7. The team was eighth in the Class AA Open Pom competition, and it tied for ninth in the Class AA Open Dance event.

Four Lemont High School students earned top honors in their category at the 2010 Chicago Architecture Today “Midwest Creative Architecture Competition,” which culminated with an awards ceremony at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Rice Campus in Wheaton on Saturday, March 6. Seniors Alberto Avalos, Cody Bengtson, Samantha Nelson and Scott Paloian teamed for an honor in the “Scale Model” category.

Lemont High School District 210 has again been named a recipient of SchoolSearch’s Bright Red Apple Award for educational excellence. Only 83 of 869 Illinois school districts - less than 10 percent - were cited as 2010 Bright Red Apple Award winners; just 22 of those 83 winners were high school districts.

Thanks to a pair of winning efforts in a competition at Andrew High School earlier this season, the Lemont High School Varsity Poms team will compete in this weekend’s Team Dance Illinois State Championship at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Ill. The squad will compete in both the Open Pom and Open Dance categories on Sunday, March 7.

Three distinct groups of Lemont High School students recently teamed up to produce a charitable donation that rocks - in every sense of the word. Students from the school’s Art, Family and Consumer Science, and Industrial Technology programs collaborated to produce a series of rocking chairs that were donated to Krejci Academy, one of several schools operated by Little Friends, Inc. in Naperville.

Lemont High School junior Elizabeth Alvey has been named the Village of Lemont's 2010 St. Patrick's Day Irish Queen. A unanimous selection, Alvey will lead the Village's annual parade on March 6, 2010.
