Four Lemont High School students were honored with February “Student of the Month” accolades at the district’s Board of Education meeting on February 19. Squaring off against a longtime conference foe, head coach John St. Clair’s wrestling program kept its outstanding season going and earned its sixth state finals berth. Lemont topped Oak Forest, 42-33, in one of two matches at the IHSA Class 2A Oak Forest Sectional on February 19 to gain the program’s second IHSA State Finals berth in three years. Five Lemont High School seniors have made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Included among the student-athletes are baseball players Daniel Brannigan (Dominican University), Conrad Tauer (Triton College), James Tauer (Triton College) and Bobby Wisz (Triton College), and soccer player Katie Knutte (Olivet Nazarene University). Four Lemont High School wrestlers earned medals at the 2019 IHSA Class 2A Wrestling Individual State Finals, which were contested from February 14-16 at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Junior Kyle Schickel posted his third straight state runner-up finish, doing so in the 138-pound class, while sophomore Apollo Gothard was the state runner-up at 220 pounds. Junior Grant LaDuke earned his second medal in as many years with his third-place finish at 145 pounds, while freshman Evan Schiffman was fourth at 106 pounds. Read More

Making her state finals debut, Lemont High School senior Kendra Anifer placed among the top 40 individuals at the 2019 IHSA Girls’ Bowling State Finals, which were contested at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford on February 15-16. Anifer is the first state qualifier from head coach Mark Hollatz’s girls’ bowling program since 2015. Read More

In her final opportunity, Lemont High School senior bowler Kendra Anifer has earned her first state finals berth. Her performance at the IHSA Romeoville Sectional on February 9 was good enough to earn an at-large berth to the 2019 IHSA Girls’ Bowling State Finals, which will be contested at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford on February 15-16. She is Lemont’s first state qualifier from head coach Mark Hollatz’s girls’ bowling program since 2015. Read More

Lemont High School’s wresting program netted state finals berths for six wrestlers, thanks to their performances at the IHSA Class 2A De La Salle Sectional on February 8-9. Juniors Grant LaDuke and Kyle Schickel, sophomore Apollo Gothard and freshman Evan Schiffman all won sectional titles, while juniors Drew Nash and Kyle Zator each posted third-place finishes. Lemont’s state finals contingent will compete at the 2019 IHSA Class 2A Wrestling Individual State Finals, which will be contested from February 14-16 at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
