Lemont High School has announced its “Our Books, Our School” selections for the 2014-15 school year. Over the summer, students will have their choice of four young adult novels selected by a committee of the school’s faculty and staff. In addition to choosing from the “Our Books, Our School” list, students in Honors and Advanced Placement level English courses will be responsible for additional summer reading assignments. Read More
Lemont High School has announced its revised end-of-year schedule, as well as its schedule for second-semester Final Exams. The inclement weather days that were necessary over the winter have pushed back both the end of the school year and the final exam schedule. Read More
Students from Lemont High School’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) placed among the top ten in nine of the 15 categories in which they were entered at the 2014 Illinois FBLA State Leadership Conference, which was held in Springfield, Ill., on March 28-29. The 2014 FBLA State Leadership Conference featured more than 70 event categories and attracted more than 1,450 student competitors from across the state. Read More
Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois annually honors the “cream of the crop” of future teachers, and for the first time since 2007, a Lemont High School student can lay claim to this most prestigious of awards. Senior Emily Durham recently was cited as one of 175 Golden Apple Scholars in the Class of 2014 - the largest class in the 26-year history of the program. Durham and the rest of the 2014 Golden Apple Scholars will be honored by the Golden Apple Foundation at a an induction ceremony on Saturday, May 10, at DePaul University. Read More
For the fifth time in eight years, Lemont High School is headed to the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge State Finals. Lemont posted a runner-up finish in its division at the North Central College Sectional on March 20. The 2014 WYSE State Finals will be held on Wednesday, April 9, on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Read More
On Wednesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 24, Lemont High School juniors will join their peers from across the State of Illinois to take the Prairie State Achievement Exam. School will begin at the regular time both days, and students will be dismissed following the end of testing (12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, 11:55 a.m. on Thursday). A snack will be provided mid-morning on both days to students taking the PSAE. Read More
Lemont High School’s Speech team will host “Faculty Idol 8” on Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the school’s Performing Arts Center. The event will pair students and staff members in a musical competition, and money raised will benefit the school’s award-winning speech program. The current line-up includes a range of students and several faculty, including defending champion and Music teacher Matt Doherty - the first three-time Faculty Idol champion. Read More
