“Township Trivia” resembles Trivial Pursuit, but the questions are all about Lemont. Businesses throughout Lemont and the surrounding communities helped fund the project through advertisements, and the different “departments” within the school’s Junior Achievement company were responsible for researching the more than 300 questions and answers for the various categories – including a category dedicated to Lemont High School!
Lemont’s Junior Achievement organization annually builds a business from scratch. A student-led board creates a product, sells stock in the company and markets the product, with a goal of reaping dividends for its shareholders.
This year’s Junior Achievement Board has been hard at work to bring “Township Trivia” to the Lemont High School community. That board includes juniors Martynas Juskelis
(President), Carson Brandt
(Vice President of Finance), Nicolette Giatras
(Vice President of Marketing), Alex Mucha
(Vice President of Supply Chain) and Alex Paulius
(Vice President of Customer Service and Sales).
The cost to purchase “Township Trivia” is just $20 for individuals who preorder, but that cost will increase to $25 after the games are delivered. Games may be picked up from Lemont High School’s main entrance between 3-6:30 p.m. on March 22-23. Games will not be mailed.
Individuals who are interested in purchasing “Township Trivia” should visit the company’s Web site at www.townshiptrivia.com
. The game can be purchased online, from any Junior Achievement representative, or from Junior Achievement faculty advisor John Aspel
Established in 1919, Junior Achievement is an educational nonprofit organization that brings financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs into classrooms from kindergarten through high school. Junior Achievement of Chicago is the largest of the organization’s offices in the United States. Its programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world – enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.
Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement entries have earned several Chicagoland “Company of the Year” accolades, most recently in 2015 when “Days and Decades” – a calendar celebrating the school’s 125th Anniversary – took home top honors.
