Lemont’s Junior Achievement seeking favorite local recipes for cookbook

Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement companies are consistently among the best in the Chicagoland area. This year’s company is producing a Lemont-centric cookbook, and residents have the opportunity to share their best recipes for possible inclusion in the cookbook. If your family has a great recipe that has been handed down for generations, or if the dish you take to a family party always is the first one to be empty.... your recipe deserves to be included!

Submit your recipe here!

“What’s Cookin’ in Lemont?” will feature recipes from several cultures that flourish in Lemont. The Junior Achievement Board is accepting recipes at www.whatscookinginlemont.com (or by clicking the link above). The deadline to submit recipes is Thursday, October 12. The Junior Achievement Board will narrow down the list of recipes that will be included in the book.

Lemont’s Junior Achievement organization annually builds a business from scratch. A student-led board creates a product, sells stock in the company and markets the product, with a goal of reaping dividends for its shareholders.

This year’s Junior Achievement includes seniors Martynas Juskelis (President), Nafisa Ali (Vice President of Customer Service and Sales), Nicolette Giatras (Vice President of Marketing), Alex Mucha (Vice President of Supply Chain) and Alex Paulius (Vice President of Finance).

Cookbooks will be available for preorder later this fall.

Established in 1919, Junior Achievement is an educational nonprofit organization that brings financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs into classrooms from kindergarten through high school. Junior Achievement of Chicago is the largest of the organization’s offices in the United States. Its programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world – enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.

Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement entries have earned several Chicagoland “Company of the Year” accolades, most recently in 2015 when “Days and Decades” – a calendar celebrating the school’s 125th Anniversary – took home top honors.
