Four Lemont student-athletes make college commitments

Four Lemont High School seniors have made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Defensive lineman Nathan Ascolani has committed to play football at North Central College; forward Martynas Biskis has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men’s soccer at Lewis University; cheerleader Katie Boyle will continue her career at Grand Valley State University; and goalkeeper Michelle Jerantowski has signed a National Letter of Intent to play women’s soccer at Jacksonville University.

Nathan Ascolani - Career Highlights

  • Three-year letterman for head coach Bret Kooi
  • Totaled 173 tackles (91 solo), 37 tackles-for-loss, 8.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries during his career, twice earning all-conference honors
  • Helped the Indians to a 30-5 record, three South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, and two IHSA Quarterfinal appearances
  • Was an honorable mention Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 5A selection as a senior in 2017, while also earning All-SSC and all-area honors from the Daily Southtown and Joliet Herald News
  • Posted a career high and was fifth on the team with 79 tackles (43 solo), was fourth on the team with 14 tackles-for-loss, and added 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble
  • Helped the defense allow just 7.8 points per game and post five shutouts
  • Lemont went 10-2, posted a perfect 6-0 record in SSC Blue play, and reached the IHSA Class 5A Quarterfinals
  • Cited as an All-SSC performer as a junior in 2016
  • Was third on the team with 75 tackles (40 solo), second on the squad with a career-high 18 tackles-for-loss, and third on the squad with a career-best four sacks
  • Added two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble
  • The Indians went 11-1, posting a perfect 9-0 record during the regular season, and won the SSC Blue title before appearing in the IHSA Class 6A Quarterfinals
  • Earned his first varsity playing time as a sophomore in 2015
  • Totaled 19 tackles (8 solo), which included five tackles-for-loss, and added three sacks
  • Lemont went 9-2, posted a perfect 6-0 record in SSC Blue play, and advanced to the second round of the IHSA Class 6A Playoffs
  • High Honor Roll student
  • Will play for head coach Jeff Thorne at North Central College, an NCAA Division III institution that is located in Naperville, Ill., and is a member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. The Cardinals went 10-2 last fall, won their second straight CCIW title, and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the second straight year.

Martynas Biskis - Career Highlights

  • Four-year letterwinner for head coach Rick Prangen
  • Played in 80 matches over four seasons, totaling 105 points on 45 goals and 15 assists
  • Lemont posted a composite record of 41-42-10 in his career, won two South Suburban Conference titles, and won two IHSA Regional crowns
  • Earned All-SSC honors, Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association All-Sectional accolades, and an honorable mention Daily Southtown citation as a senior in 2017
  • Started 21 matches and tallied 44 points on 21 goals and two assists
  • Led the team and posted career highs in both goals and points
  • Lemont went 10-13-1 and won an IHSA Regional title
  • Scored 30 points on 13 goals and four assists in just 14 matches as a junior in 2016
  • Tied for the team lead in goals and was second on the squad in points as Lemont went 4-15-3
  • Played in 22 matches as a sophomore in 2015 and totaled 20 points on six points and eight assists
  • Led the team in assists, and was second on the squad in points and third in goals
  • The Indians posted a 10-11-2 record and won an SSC title
  • Debuted on Lemont’s varsity squad as a freshman in 2014, appearing in 23 matches
  • Scored 11 points on five goals and an assist
  • Lemont went 17-3-4 and won both SSC and IHSA Regional crowns
  • Plays travel soccer for Sockers FC
  • Honor Roll student
  • Will play for head coach Evan Fiffles at Lewis University, an NCAA Division II institution that is located in Romeoville, Ill., and is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Flyers went 12-4-2 and were third in the GLVC last fall. Fiffles has guided Lewis to eight NCAA Tournament berths and 24 winning seasons in 26 years.

Katie Boyle - Career Highlights

  • Three-year member of the varsity squad for head coach Dave Erlenbaugh
  • Served as team captain for two IHSA Medium Division State Championship squads, while also being part of an IHSA State Runner-Up team and two South Suburban Conference title-winning squads
  • Has earned “Team MVP,” “Most Spirited,” “Best Tumbler” and “Leadership Award” honors during her career
  • Lemont captured its first IHSA Sectional title since 2010 during her senior year before going on to win the 2018 IHSA Medium Division State Championship
  • As a junior, the Indians won an SSC title before capturing the 2017 IHSA Medium Division State Championship
  • Lemont won an SSC crown and was the 2016 IHSA Medium Division State Runner-Up during her sophomore year
  • Also is a member of the ICE All-Stars, and was a two-time World Finalist with Ultimate Athletics
  • High Honor Roll student
  • Will cheer for head coach Brandy Skantze at Grand Valley State University, an NCAA Division II institution that is located in Allendale, Mich., and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lakers were the NCA Intermediate All-Girl Division II National Runner-Up in 2017, and won the 2016 NCA Intermediate Co-Ed Division II National Championship in 2016.

Michelle Jerantowski - Career Highlights

  • Two-time letterwinner for head coach Rick Prangen
  • Expected to start in goal as a senior in Spring 2018
  • Has started 50 matches in goal over two seasons, making 109 saves and posting a record of 35-9-6 with 34 shutouts
  • Lemont has posted a composite record of 38-9-6 during her career, won two South Suburban Conference titles, and twice advanced to the IHSA Class 2A State Finals
  • Earned All-SSC honors, Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association All-Sectional accolades, and a second team Daily Southtown all-area citation as a junior in 2017
  • Started 23 matches and posted a 17-3-3 record
  • Allowed just nine goals (0.39 per game) and collected 16 shutouts
  • Posted a save percentage of .833, stopping 45 of 54 shots on goal
  • Lemont went 20-3-3, won the SSC title, and finished fourth at the IHSA Class 2A State Finals
  • Played club soccer as a sophomore in 2016
  • Debuted on Lemont’s varsity squad as a freshman in 2015, starting all 27 matches
  • Posted an 18-6-3 record and allowed only 18 goals in 27 matches (0.67 per game) while putting up a career-high 18 shutouts
  • Posted a save percentage of .780, stopping 64 of 82 shots on goal
  • Lemont went 18-6-3, won the SSC title, and finished fourth at the IHSA Class 2A State Finals
  • Plays travel soccer for Sockers FC
  • Also a member of the girls’ basketball program

  • Will play for head coach Brian Copham at Jacksonville University, an NCAA Division I institution that is located in Jacksonville, Fla., and is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Dolphins went 5-11 and were sixth in the Atlantic Sun last fall.
