Lemont High School will transform into ‘Rydell High’ for three nights in May as the school’s Performing Arts Center will feature Samuel French’s Grease for nightly performances from Thursday, May 10, through Saturday, May 12. In conjunction with the musical, the school’s Art Department will be featuring its “ART is the Word” exhibit in “GALLERY 306.”

With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, all performances of Samuel French’s Grease, which will be produced by Dave Nommensen, will begin at 7 p.m., and tickets are on sale now for each performance. All tickets are $15, and all seats in the Performing Arts Center - including the balcony and main level - are reserved seats.

Individuals wishing to purchase tickets in advance must do so online and pay with a credit card. In addition to skipping the ticket lines the night of the show, purchasing tickets in advance allows patrons to choose their own seats and print their tickets at home. Tickets may be purchased by visiting the link at the top of the page.

Pending availability, tickets may be purchased at the door each evening via credit card or with cash or check. For more ticket information, call (630) 243-3286.

Evoking the look and sound of the 1950s, this rollicking musical spotlights Rydell High’s Class of 1959, including the duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies.” Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie,” among others. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions, place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.

Samuel French’s Grease will be directed by Paula Smith and choreographed by Jeni Donahue, with orchestral direction by Matt Doherty and vocal direction by Stephanie Cesaroni. Brett Baleskie will head up set design and construction and Matt Davis will serve as the backstage technical supervisor. Designers for the production will include Joelle Beranek (costumes), Bob Kuper (make-up) and Rob Reder (sound and lighting). Oliver Townsend will serve as the accompanist, while Dawn Scuderi will serve as the front-of-house manager. DJ Long designs the posters, cast shirts and program covers.

“GALLERY 306” debuted this year and has hosted student art shows corresponding with both the fall and winter plays. “ART is the Word” will be juried by Lemont alumni. “GALLERY 306” will be open from 5:45-6:45 p.m. nightly from May 10-12, spotlighting a variety of outstanding work from Lemont High School students.
