Three Lemont student-athletes make college commitments

Lemont High School seniors Cade Campos, Maggie Micetich and Nick Stricker (pictured L-R) all have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers at the college level.

Three Lemont High School seniors have made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Linebacker Cade Campos has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at Illinois State University; Maggie Micetich has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Loyola University Chicago; and offensive lineman Nick Stricker has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at Eastern Illinois University.

Cade Campos - Career Highlights

  • Three-year letterman for head coach Bret Kooi
  • Totaled 289 tackles (153 solo), 49 tackles-for-loss, 9 sacks, five fumble recoveries and five pass breakups during his career, twice earning all-conference honors
  • Helped the Indians to a 26-8 record, two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, and two IHSA Quarterfinal appearances
  • Earned Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 6A All-State honors as a senior in 2018, while also receiving All-SSC and all-area honors from the Daily Southtown, Joliet Herald News and Suburban Life Newspapers
  • Led the squad with 104 tackles (53 solo) as a senior, was second on the squad with a career-best 20 tackles-for-loss, and tied for third on the team with three sacks
  • Helped the defense limit opponents to 15.9 points per game, as the Indians allowed a touchdown or less four times
  • Lemont went 5-5, finished as the SSC Blue runner-up with a 5-1 league mark, and advanced to the IHSA Class 6A Playoffs
  • Cited as an All-SSC performer as a junior in 2017
  • Led the squad with a career-high 112 tackles (65 solo) and five fumble recoveries, was second on the squad with 17 tackles-for-loss, and was third with a career-high four sacks
  • Helped the defense allow just 7.8 points per game and post five shutouts
  • Lemont went 10-2, posted a perfect 6-0 record in SSC Blue play, and reached the IHSA Class 5A Quarterfinals
  • Earned his first varsity playing time as a sophomore in 2016
  • Was fifth on the team with 73 tackles (35 solo), which included 12 tackles-for-loss, and added two sacks
  • The Indians went 11-1, posting a perfect 9-0 record during the regular season, and won the SSC Blue title before appearing in the IHSA Class 6A Quarterfinals

  • Will play for head coach Brock Spack at Illinois State University, an NCAA Division I Football Championship Series institution that is located in Normal, Ill., and is a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Redbirds went 6-5 last fall and have made three postseason appearances during Spack’s 10-year tenure.

Maggie Micetich - Career Highlights

  • Four-year letterwinner for head coach Bill Mondrella
  • Is the most accomplished girls’ golfer in school history, becoming the first player in school history to lead the team in scoring average four straight seasons
  • One of only two players in school history to twice reach the IHSA Girls’ Golf State Finals
  • Three-time conference champion and three-time team MVP who helped the team to four straight Intra-Conference Meet titles
  • Totaled 34 medalist finishes over four seasons
  • Owns the top five 9-hole scores and the top two 18-hole scores in program history
  • Posted the top two single-season scoring averages in program history, and three of the top four scoring averages overall
  • Posted a 39.5 scoring average as a senior in 2018 and earned her third straight team MVP award
  • Was the individual medalist at the Intra-Conference Meet with a school-record -1 71, helping the Indians to the team title
  • Posted the program’s best individual state finals effort with a +15 159 at the 2018 IHSA Class AA State Finals, and also recorded the program’s best round in state finals play with a +5 77 on the second day
  • Tied for 27th at the 2018 IHSA State Finals, which is the second-best placement in program history
  • Posted a career-low 37.8 scoring average as a junior in 2017 and earned 11 medalist finishes on her way to team MVP honors
  • Was the individual medalist at the Intra-Conference Meet, helping the Indians to the team title
  • Averaged 40.6 as a sophomore in 2016 and picked up 10 medalist finishes while earning her first team MVP award
  • Posted her first Intra-Conference Meet medalist finish, helping the Indians to the team title
  • Paced the squad with a 43.3 scoring average as a freshman in 2015
  • Placed second at the Intra-Conference Meet, helping the Indians to the team title
  • Became the first freshman in program history to qualify for state finals play
  • Tied for 42nd at the 2015 IHSA Class AA State Finals with a +21 165, which is the third-best state finals total in program history
  • High Honor Roll student and National Honor Society inductee
  • Will play for head coach Carly Werwie at Loyola University Chicago, an NCAA Division I institution that is located in Chicago, Ill., and is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. Werwie is in her first season as Loyola’s head coach. The Ramblers placed fifth at the conference championship last spring.

Nick Stricker - Career Highlights

  • Two-year letterman for head coach Bret Kooi
  • Was a valuable contributor on the offensive line as a junior and senior, and played a key role on the defensive line as a junior
  • Helped the Indians to a 15-7 record, one South Suburban Conference-Blue Division title, and one IHSA Quarterfinal appearances
  • Versatile lineman who played at both center and right tackle as a senior in 2018
  • Earned honorable mention all-conference honors as Lemont averaged 24.6 points per game
  • The Indians averaged 11.3 yards per pass completion and 4.6 yards per rush
  • Lemont went 5-5, finished as the SSC Blue runner-up with a 5-1 league mark, and advanced to the IHSA Class 6A Playoffs
  • Became a two-way player late in the season as a junior in 2017, playing on both the offensive and defensive lines
  • Totaled 27 tackles on defense and posted two tackles-for-loss and a sack
  • Helped the offense rack up 29.6 points per game and six 40-point efforts, and contributed to a defensive unit that permitted just 7.8 points per game and posted five shutouts
  • Lemont went 10-2, posted a perfect 6-0 record in SSC Blue play, and reached the IHSA Class 5A Quarterfinals

  • Will play for head coach Adam Cushing at Eastern Illinois University, an NCAA Division I Football Championship Series institution that is located in Charleston, Ill., and is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. A long-time Northwestern University assistant coach, Cushing was tabbed as the head coach in December. The Panthers went 3-8 last fall.
