Ten Lemont High School students have earned the chance to participate in the final round of a prestigious national mathematics competition. The MathCON 2019 Finals will be contested at McCormick Place West in Chicago on Saturday, April 27.

The students who earned the opportunity to compete at the MathCON 2019 Finals include senior Natalie Palarz; juniors Ben Clarage, Aubrey Molitor, Jacob Mendoza-Pulido and Taylor Shimkus; sophomores William Gorski and Ethan Ragasa; and freshmen Jacob TerMaat, Gloria Wang and Isabella Wilton.

All of the students who earned advancement to the MathCON 2019 Finals scored in either the 98th or 99th percentile nationally in their respective exams.

This marks the first year of Lemont High School students participating in the MathCON contest. Approximately 30 students across four grades took part in the first round of competition, which is an online exam consisting of 40 questions that must be completed in no more than 40 minutes. The final round will consist of a paper test that will be administered to the participants on-site.

MathCON is a nonprofit national mathematics organization recognized for its annual math competition for students in grades 5-12. More than 200,000 students have participated in MathCON events since 2008. MathCON provides students across the nation the opportunity to compete against other students to enhance and excel their mathematics interest and education, as well as to earn scholarship opportunities.
