Lemont High School seniors Shaan Pal and Nathan Pawlak and junior Max Celis all made their state finals debuts at the 2019 IHSA Class A Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which were contested from May 23-25 and hosted by High School Districts 211, 214 and 220. Head coach Jon DeGuzman’s program was represented in state finals competition for the 13th time in 14 years.

Celis (10-14) dropped a pair of state finals matches in singles play, while the tandem of Pal and Pawlak (18-8) came up short twice in doubles competition.

Each advanced to the state finals after solid performances at the IHSA Montini Catholic Sectional. Celis placed fourth in sectional singles competition after winning his first two sectional contests. Pal and Pawlak placed third thanks to wins in three of four sectional contests.

Celis finished second in singles at the South Suburban Conference-Blue Division Meet this season, while Pal and Pawlak were second in doubles.
