Lemont High School senior midfielders Connor Cunningham and Nick Tiedt have committed to playing men’s college soccer beginning in Fall 2012. Cunningham will attend Trinity Christian College, while Tiedt is headed to North Central College.

A four-year varsity contributor for head coach Rick Prangen, Tiedt started 96 of 100 games and totaled two goals and 16 assists. Lemont posted a 74-25-8 record during his career, including a 34-9 mark in South Suburban Conference play. The Indians won two SSC titles, four IHSA Regional crowns and three IHSA Sectional championships during that time, and Tiedt twice was named as an All-SSC performer. He also was cited as an all-state pick as a senior.

During his two varsity seasons, Cunningham started 52 of 53 matches in which he played and totaled four goals and four assists. The Indians went 36-12-6 over those two seasons and won two IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional crowns, while also earning one conference title.

Tiedt played in 19 games as a freshman in 2008, as the Indians went 17-8-1 (8-2 SSC) and won an IHSA Regional crown. In 2009, he started all 27 games as the squad went 21-5-1 (9-2 SSC) and won conference, IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional titles.

As a junior in 2010, Tiedt earned All-SSC accolades and was tabbed as an All-Sectional performer. He started all 27 matches and posted a career-high eight assists as the Indians went 16-8-3 (8-3 SSC) and won IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional titles. Cunningham had a goal and an assist while starting 25 matches in his first varsity campaign.

Tiedt’s performance as a senior earned him a place on the 2011 Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team. The Indians went 20-4-3 in 2011, which included a 9-2 league record and a first-place finish in the SSC. Lemont yielded just nine goals in 27 matches and posted 19 shutouts. Tiedt started all 27 games, and finished with the first two goals of his career and seven assists. Cunningham, meanwhile, posted career highs with three goals, three assists and nine points while starting all 27 matches and earning All-SSC accolades. The Indians reached the IHSA Class 2A Super-Sectional for the third straight season after capturing IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional titles.

A high honor roll student, Tiedt will play for head coach Matt Klosterman at North Central, an NCAA Division III institution located in Naperville, Ill., and a member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). The Cardinals finished with a 10-5-2 record last fall, which not only marked the highest win total in Klosterman’s five-year tenure, but also was the Cardinals’ winningest season since 1999.
