Last spring, Lemont High School’s baseball team capped an historic season by winning the 2014 IHSA Class 3A State Championship. Two of the key figures in that state championship run – head coach Brian Storako and lefthanded pitcher Jake Latz ‘14 – recently were honored by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association for their outstanding seasons. Storako was tabbed as the Class 3A Coach of the Year, while Latz received Class 3A Player of the Year accolades. The two were recognized at the annual IHSBCA Hall of Fame Dinner at The Westin Hotel in Lombard on January 24. Read More
Lemont High School’s Speech team has advanced multiple students to state finals competition for the third straight season, and fourth time in five years. At the IHSA Oak Lawn Sectional on February 14, seniors Nick Lambrakis and Becca Zagorski posted top-three finishes in their respective categories to earn berths to the 2015 IHSA Speech State Finals, which will be contested on Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21, at the Peoria Civic Center. Lambrakis will compete in the IHSA State Finals for the second straight season, while Zagorski will be making her first trip. Read More
Led by head coach John St. Clair, Lemont High School’s wrestling program has brought home at least one state finals medalist finish in eight of the last 10 years. Several of his wrestlers earned the chance to add their names to that list thanks to their performance at the IHSA De La Salle Sectional on February 14. Six Lemont wrestlers – seniors Jimmy Brennan, Dimitri Giatras and Ryan Glynn, junior John Polk and sophomores Egan Berta and Jake Kirkman – will compete at the 2015 IHSA Class 2A Wrestling Individual State Finals, which will be contested from Thursday, February 19, through Saturday, February 21, at Assembly Hall on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Read More
Lemont High School senior bowler Kyra Udziela has earned one final chance to compete on the state’s largest stage. Her performance at the IHSA Lockport Sectional on February 14 was good enough to earn an at-large berth to the 2015 IHSA Girls’ Bowling State Finals, which will be contested at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford on February 20-21. Udziela will become just the third girls’ bowler in school history to make as many as three IHSA State Finals appearances. Read More
The 26th Annual Lemont High School Band Benefit Dinner Dance, featuring the music of the school’s jazz bands, will be held at The Willowbrook Ballroom on Saturday, March 7. Event proceeds will support the award-winning Lemont High School band programs. The evening will be one of the highlights of Lemont High School’s year-long 125th Anniversary celebration, and will include the induction of the inaugural class of the Lemont High School Alumni Hall of Fame.
