Lemont High School’s Mathletes team placed 17th of 58 teams at the 2018 Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Division 3AA State Finals, which were contested on Saturday, May 5, on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Eleven Lemont High School seniors have made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Included among these seniors are basketball players Paul O’Leary (Colorado School of Mines) and Jerry Radomski (Saint Xavier University); cheerleaders Gia Baldassano (Loyola University Chicago) and Natalie Kearney (Indiana University); football players Jack Faron (John Carroll University) and Anthony Martin (Carthage College); hockey players Avery Chmelovsky (Arizona State University) and Leah Roames (Marian University); tennis player Hannah Hill (Olivet Nazarene University); track athlete Aleksandra Guzy (North Central College); and wrestler Alex Oruna (University of Wisconsin-Whitewater). Lemont High School has announced its summer reading selections for the 2018-19 school year. Over the summer, all students will be required to read various works depending on what English course they will be enrolled in next year. Read More
The Lemont High School Educational Foundation has committed to supporting six grants for nearly $14,000 for the 2018-19 school year. Grant proposals were submitted by Lemont High School faculty and staff, with the goal of enhancing educational opportunities for the school’s enrollment of more than 1,400 students. Read More
Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement entry – “LHS Publishing, Inc.” – was cited with “Company of the Year” accolades at the 2018 Chicagoland Junior Achievement competition, which recently was held at Robert Morris University’s downtown Chicago campus. Additionally, senior Martynas Juskelis and Matt Krueger each earned top honors within their respective officer divisions; Juskelis was cited as the President Officer of the Year for the second time in as many years, while Krueger brought home Finance Officer of the Year accolades. For only the third time in school history, Lemont High School has earned multiple medals in journalism state finals competition in the same year. Seniors Emily Krivograd and Peyton Jay each medaled in their categories at the 2018 IHSA Journalism State Finals, which were contested on the campus of Eastern Illinois University on April 27. Krivograd was third in Feature Writing, while Jay was fifth in Editorial Writing. Read More
Thanks to their efforts in sectional competition, two Lemont High School students have advanced to compete at the 2018 IHSA Journalism State Finals, which will be contested on the campus of Eastern Illinois University on Friday, April 27.
