Lemont High School’s Junior Class and Athletic Council will team to host the “Mr. LHS” contest on Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the school’s Performing Arts Center. The event will pit male students from several grade levels against each other as they compete for the “Mr. LHS” crown. Proceeds from the “Mr. LHS” contest will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Juniors Jack Buday and Olivia Matthews will serve as hosts for the event, which will include four rounds of competition. Read More
Lemont High School will host “AP Night” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in the Performing Arts Center. The 75-minute event is intended for prospective Advanced Placement students and their parents, and will provide important information about the benefits of the school’s AP program. Though it’s hard to believe with snow still on the ground and temperatures seemingly afraid to move past 32 degrees, spring is indeed around the corner. Anticipating warmer weather ahead, Lemont High School has begun preparations for an event that can bring the community together as it celebrates its 125th Anniversary in 2015. The Annual Wellness 5K Walk is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, at Lemont High School. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Lemont’s Hope & Friendship Foundation. Read More
Lemont High School’s Mathletes squad earned a berth to the 2015 Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) State Finals by winning the Joliet area regional competition on February 28 at Joliet Junior College. Lemont, which topped runner-up Providence Catholic by more than 150 points, will compete in the ICTM Division 3AA State Finals on Saturday, May 2, on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Lemont High School’s wrestling team dropped a 41-23 decision to Crystal Lake Central in a quarterfinal match at the 2015 IHSA Class 2A Wrestling Dual Team State Finals, which were contested at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington on February 28. Head coach John St. Clair’s team was making its fourth team state finals appearance, and its first since the 2011 season. Read More
Lemont High School seniors Nick Lambrakis and Becca Zagorski closed their careers with solid efforts at the 2015 IHSA Speech State Finals, which were contested on February 20-21 at the Peoria Civic Center. Making his second state finals appearance in as many seasons, Lambrakis just missed reaching the finals and posted a seventh-place finish in Dramatic Interpretation. Zagorski was 12th in Radio Speaking in her state finals debut. This was the third straight season, and fourth time in five years, that Lemont’s Speech team advanced multiple students to state finals competition. Read More
Five Lemont High School students recently learned that their work had been selected for inclusion in the Illinois High School Regional Art Exhibition. This event will be held at Zhou B Art Center, which is located in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. Read More
