Four Lemont High School seniors have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program, thanks to their performance on either the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Diana Vera has been cited as a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist, while Katie Atherton, James Scott and Daniel Wang all were cited with National Merit Commended Students distinction. Read More

Rick Prangen, who has built the school’s boys’ and girls’ soccer programs into perennial powers during his lengthy tenure at Lemont High School, reached a significant career milestone on Saturday, September 20. With the Indians’ 2-1, overtime victory at T.F. United, Prangen recorded his 300th victory as a high school boys’ soccer coach. According to the IHSA’s Web site, Prangen is just the 25th coach in state history to reach that plateau in boys’ soccer. Read More

Lemont High School staff member Bob Maciulis is one of 18 honorees who comprise the 2015 induction class for the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. Maciulis, who serves as a paraeducator within Lemont High School’s ‘academy’ program, is one of the Midwest’s preeminent voices in the outdoor recreational community, and is being honored for his contribution, dedication and service to the fresh water sportfishing industry. Lemont High School’s award-winning marching band already has enjoyed its best competition season in years this fall, with two excellent finishes in as many weeks. However, its most wide-reaching performance soon will be seen by viewers throughout the Chicagoland area. Under the direction of Dave Nommensen and Matt Doherty, the marching band will featured on the CBS 2 Chicago Morning News on Tuesday, September 30. Read More

Lemont High School will host its annual College and Financial Aid Night on Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m. in the school’s Performing Arts Center. The program, which will feature Lewis University Director of Admissions Ryan Cockerill, will provide parents and guardians of students in grades 9-12 with an overview of financial aid and the college application process.
