Lemont High School students placed among the top ten in 15 of 18 categories in which they were entered at the 2017 Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference, which was held in Springfield, Ill., on March 24-25. The conference attracted more than 1,300 competitors from across the state, and featured competitions in more than 70 events. Lemont students combined to win four events, marking the fifth time in eight years that the school has brought home multiple titles. Read More
Lemont High School’s Alumni Hall of Fame welcomed its next class of inductees when three graduates – Al Albrecht ‘59, Mary Lou Carlson ‘71 and Norma (Landgren) Johnson ‘38 – were recognized at the school’s annual Jazz Band Dinner Dance at DiNolfo’s Banquets in Homer Glen on March 4. Read More
Four Lemont High School students were honored with March “Student of the Month” accolades at the district’s Board of Education meeting on March 20. Included among the honorees were senior Trace Rakow (Business), junior Jacey Schickel (Science), sophomore Maria Purpura (Music) and freshman Caroline Bukowski (Mathematics). Read More
Lemont High School’s competitive drama program is headed back to the state finals for the first time in five years. Lemont finished as the runner-up in the Group Interpretation category at the IHSA Reavis Sectional on Saturday, March 18, to earn a berth to the 2017 IHSA Drama & Group Interpretation State Finals, which will be contested at the Sangamon Auditorium on the campus of the University of Illinois-Springfield on March 24-25. This will mark Lemont’s fourth appearance at the IHSA Drama & Group Interpretation State Finals overall, and the third time it will compete in the Group Interpretation category. Read More

Four Lemont High School student-athletes have solidified their plans to compete at the intercollegiate level. Golfer Jack Lund has committed to play at St. Norbert College; lacrosse player Mike Lyewski will play at Columbia (Mo.) College; softball player Jade Mardjetko will pitch at Marian (Wis.) University; and track and field athlete Paul Sniezko will continue his career at Lewis University. Read More
Lemont High School’s Technology Student Association has advanced two students to the state’s top drafting contest. At the Illinois Drafting Educators Association (IDEA) Regional Drafting Competition on March 3, junior Jake Wilk took top honors in the Architectural Board division, while senior Joe Purpura was second in the Assembly Modeling category. Both will compete at the IDEA State Drafting Competition at Illinois State University on Saturday, April 22. Read More
