What started as a modest fundraising effort by three Lemont High School students – juniors Hope Conway, Olivia Matthews and Jenna Molaro – ultimately resulted in hundreds of Lemont students actively engaged in a humanitarian effort and tens of thousands of meals being shipped to a country across the world devastated by an earthquake. Their yearlong “Food Fight” fundraiser culminated with more than 65,000 meals being sent to Nepal through the non-profit organization Impact Lives. Read More

Lemont High School’s girls’ soccer team fell short by a 1-0 count against Peoria Notre Dame in the third-place game on June 6 at the 2015 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Soccer State Finals, which were contested at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on the campus of North Central College in Naperville. Despite the loss, head coach Rick Prangen’s Indians earned their fourth state trophy in seven seasons. Read More

Making its fourth state finals appearance in seven years, Lemont High School’s girls’ soccer team fell just short of a berth in the state championship match. Head coach Rick Prangen’s Indians dropped a 2-1 decision to Carmel in the second semifinal match at the 2015 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Soccer State Finals, which are being contested at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on the campus of North Central College in Naperville. It’s an odd year on the calendar, and as has been the pattern, Lemont High School’s girls’ soccer program is headed back to state finals competition. Head coach Rick Prangen’s Indians edged Wheaton St. Francis, 1-0, at the IHSA Hinsdale South Super-Sectional on June 2 to earn a berth to the 2015 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Soccer State Finals, which will be contested on June 5-6 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on the campus of North Central College in Naperville. Lemont will make its fourth state finals appearance since 2009, and is seeking its first state title in girls’ soccer. Read More

Lemont High School junior Chris Thompson capped a tremendous season by earning his first career medal at the 2015 IHSA Class 3A Boys’ Track and Field State Finals, which were contested on May 29-30 at O’Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Thompson took home the school’s first medal since 2009 by finishing sixth in the 400-meter dash. Thompson also teamed with seniors Connor Koehler, Eric Whatley and Drake White to compete in the 4 x 400-meter relay. Lemont was represented in state finals competition for the first time since 2010. Lemont High School seniors Nathaniel Burner and Nick Urban teamed to place among the top 24 doubles entries at the 2015 IHSA Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which were contested from May 28-30 and hosted by High School Districts 211 and 214. Burner and Urban - who won three of five matches before seeing their tournament run end in the sixth consolation round - are believed to have posted the best state finals finish in doubles play by a Lemont duo. Though they saw their long unbeaten streak come to an end, Lemont High School seniors Nathaniel Burner and Nick Urban once again are headed to boys’ tennis state finals competition. Their runner-up finish in doubles competition at the IHSA Joliet West Sectional on May 23 earned them a berth to the 2015 IHSA Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which will be contested from May 28-30 and hosted by High School Districts 211 and 214. Urban is the first tennis player in school history to earn four state finals berths, while Burner will compete in doubles for the second straight year. Enjoying its finest season in many years, Lemont High School’s boys’ track and field program accomplished something at the IHSA Downers Grove Sectional on May 22 that it hadn’t done in 15 years – winning sectional championships in multiple events in the same year. Junior Chris Thompson won the 400-meter dash, and teamed with seniors Connor Koehler, Eric Whatley and Drake White to capture the 4 x 400-meter relay. The sectional titles earned them an opportunity to compete at the 2015 IHSA Class 3A Boys’ Track and Field State Finals, which will be contested on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, at O’Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill. Lemont will be represented in boys’ track and field state finals competition for the first time since 2010. Read More
