What started as a modest fundraising effort by three Lemont High School students – juniors Hope Conway, Olivia Matthews and Jenna Molaro – ultimately resulted in hundreds of Lemont students actively engaged in a humanitarian effort and tens of thousands of meals being shipped to a country across the world devastated by an earthquake. Their yearlong “Food Fight” fundraiser culminated with more than 65,000 meals being sent to Nepal through the non-profit organization Impact Lives. Read More

Lemont High School junior Taylor Campos is one of the school’s top student-athletes. She has excelled as a distance runner on the school’s cross country and track and field squads, and has accumulated a GPA of better than 4.50 while taking the most rigorous classes Lemont High School offers. For the fourth straight season, Lemont High School took away a medalist finish at the Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge State Finals, which were contested on April 14 on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. However, Lemont’s three medalists – senior Lauren May (6th; Chemistry), junior Misbah Chagpar (2nd; Biology) and freshman Martin Juskelis (4th; Computer Science) – matches a single-season school record. For the second straight year, Lemont High School will send multiple qualifiers to state finals competition in girls’ track and field. Standout performances from senior Jacque Desmond and junior Taylor Campos at the IHSA Downers Grove North Sectional on May 14 earned them berths to the 2015 IHSA Class 3A Girls’ Track and Field State Finals, which will be contested on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, at O’Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Lemont High School senior wide receiver Josh Bowman has committed to play college football at Iowa Wesleyan College beginning in Fall 2015. He joins a large contingent of Lemont players who will play collegiately, including quarterback Ryan Dawson (Wisconsin-Platteville), wide receivers Jimmy Kepouros (Western Michigan) and Flynn Nagel (Northwestern), defensive lineman Jason Koepke (Wisconsin Lutheran), linebackers Hunter LaDuke (North Central) and Frank Pignone (North Central), and offensive linemen Mike Kardas (Millikin) and Nathan Palermo (North Central).
