Lemont High School held its final college commitment ceremony of the 2014-15 school year on Wednesday, May 13. Student-athletes from seven sports were honored for their accomplishments. Read More
Lemont High School saw three members of its Technology Student Association earn medals at the 2015 Illinois Drafting Educators Association (IDEA) State Competition, which was contested at Illinois State University on April 11. Senior Jasmine Hornik and junior Matt Lassak each earned third-place medals in the Architectural Board division, while sophomore Adam Popper was third in the Introductory CAD division. Read More
On the strength of top-20 finishes in 10 of 12 categories, Lemont High School’s Mathletes team placed 12th in the team standings at the 2015 Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Division 3AA State Finals, which were contested on May 2 on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Led by coaches Angela Marshall, Tim Norman and Ken Suslek, Lemont now has finished among the top 20 teams in its division eight times in nine years, including 11th-place finishes in 2007 and 2013. Lemont High School junior Brook Finger has been named the winner of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition for Illinois’s Third Congressional District. Congressman Dan Lipinski visited Lemont High School’s campus on May 7 to surprise Finger with her award. Her submission will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for the next year, alongside winning pieces from congressional districts across the country. Finger’s classmate, Victoria Annarino, is one of five runners-up in this year’s contest. Read More
Lemont High School has announced its “Our Books, Our School” selections for the 2015-16 school year. Over the summer, students will have their choice of four young adult novels selected by a committee of the school’s faculty, staff and administration. In addition to choosing from the “Our Books, Our School” list, students in Honors and Advanced Placement level English courses will be responsible for additional summer reading assignments. Read More
Lemont High School students placed among the top ten in all 12 categories in which they were entered at the 2015 Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference, which was held in Springfield, Ill., on March 27-28. The 2015 FBLA State Leadership Conference attracted more than 1,500 competitors from across the state, and featured competitions in more than 70 events. At its Organizational Board of Education meeting on Monday, May 4, Lemont High School District 210 seated its recently elected Board of Education members and also reelected three individuals to two-year terms as officers. Read More
