Lemont High School junior Nick Urban already was the first tennis player in school history to finish among the state’s top 32 singles players in state finals competition, having done so as both a freshman and sophomore in 2012 and 2013, respectively. However, Urban went a step further at the 2014 IHSA Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which were contested from May 29-31 and hosted by High School Districts 211 and 214. Urban finished with a 4-2 record and by advancing to the sixth consolation round, was one of the top 24 singles players in the state. The trio will compete at the 2014 IHSA Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which will be contested from May 29-31 and hosted by High School Districts 211 and 214. Lemont has sent a representative to state finals play nine straight years. Entering this year, the best individual finish by a Lemont High School girls’ track and field state finals qualifier was seventh. However, at the final day of competition at the 2014 IHSA Class 3A Girls’ Track and Field State Finals, juniors Jacque Desmond and Vika Marmaite rewrote the school’s record book. Marmaite finished as the state runner-up in the triple jump, while Desmond was sixth in the pole vault. Their dual medalist finishes marks just the second time in the program’s history that two Lemont students medaled in the same year. Read More
