Lemont High School’s Junior Class and Athletic Council will team to host the “Mr. LHS” contest on Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the school’s Performing Arts Center. The event will pit approximately 20 male students from several grade levels against each other as they compete for the “Mr. LHS” crown. Proceeds from the “Mr. LHS” contest will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Senior Lizzy Forzley and sophomore Jack Buday will serve as hosts for the event, which will include three rounds of competition. Read More

Lemont High School junior Andrew Podczerwinski has thrived academically and served as an inspiration for both his classmates and faculty and staff since returning to school following a life-threatening accident in 2012. To celebrate the progress in his recovery, the Lemont High School community again will come together to support Andrew and his family at a special event. For the second straight year, Lemont High School will host the “Walk with Andrew” 5K on Sunday, April 27. Proceeds from the recreational event will benefit Andrew as he takes his steps towards walking again. Read More

Lemont High School softball coach Chris Traina recently was honored with Sectional ‘Coach of the Year’ accolades by the Illinois Coaches Association. Traina received her honor at the ICA’s annual awards ceremony at the Chateau Hotel in Bloomington, Ill., on February 23. Read More

Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement organization has created the ultimate hometown product for Lemont residents. “Lemontopoly” not only will provide students, parents, alumni and residents with their own localized version of the classic game “Monopoly,” but it also serves as a directory for some of the top businesses and organizations in Lemont and its surrounding areas. A limited number of “Lemontopoly” games now are on sale. Read More

At its February 18 meeting, the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education approved the recommendation to hire Dina Kyriakoulis to serve as the school’s head boys’ volleyball coach beginning in Spring 2014. Kyriakoulis will take over the program from Zach Splitt, who coached the Indians in 2012 and 2013 before resigning in January to become the boys’ volleyball coach at Oswego East High School. Lemont High School senior Alexandra Albrecht has been named as a 2014 National Merit Scholarship Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which makes her eligible for one of approximately 8,000 Merit Scholarships that will be awarded nationally this spring. Albrecht is the school’s sixth National Merit Finalist in as many years. Read More
