Making her state finals debut, Lemont High School senior Karla Pulido won one of three matches at the 2019 IHSA Badminton State Finals, which were contested from May 10-11 in Charleston, Ill., on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Five Lemont High School seniors have made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Included among the student-athletes are bowler Kendra Anifer (Upper Iowa University), basketball player Jaxson Dian (Illinois College), and softball players Nicole Brace (North Central College), Gianna Maida (North Central College) and Nina Mardjetko (Illinois Wesleyan University). Lemont High School’s Mathletes squad placed 17th at the 2019 Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Division 3AA State Finals, which were contested on May 4 on the campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. This marks the second straight season Lemont has placed 17th in state competition, and the 11th time in 13 seasons it has finished among the state’s top 20 in its division. Read More
Lemont High School senior badminton player Karla Pulido etched her name in the school’s record books thanks to her performance in sectional competition. Pulido won the singles crown at the IHSA Plainfield East Sectional on May 2 to earn a berth to the 2019 IHSA Badminton State Finals, which will be contested from May 10-11 in Charleston, Ill., on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Lemont High School’s Junior Achievement entry – “Little Mountain Kitchen Creations” – was cited with “Company of the Year” accolades at the 2019 Chicagoland Junior Achievement competition, which recently was held at Robert Morris University’s downtown Chicago campus. Additionally, senior Matt Krueger and junior Max Celis each earned top honors within their respective officer divisions. Read More
