Lemont High School’s girls’ cross country team posted its third straight finish among the top 15 teams in the state. Head coach Tim Plotke’s Indians were 14th of 25 teams at the 2016 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Cross Country State Finals, which were contested at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Lemont High School’s Marching Band wrapped up a terrific competition season with an outstanding performance at the Illinois State University Invitational Marching Championship, which was contested at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University on October 22. Led by director Dave Nommensen and assistant director Matt Doherty, Lemont earned a runner-up finish in the Class 3A level, its best showing since finishing second at the 2012 competition. Read More
After years of careful planning and thoughtful preparation, Lemont High School is excited to announce that its 1:1 teaching and learning program - LNS@LHS - will be fully implemented during the 2017-18 school year. Lemont High School’s girls’ cross country team captured the program’s third IHSA Sectional title, and in the process, secured its eighth state finals berth in 10 years. Head coach Tim Plotke’s Indians triumphed at the IHSA Class 2A Wheaton Academy Sectional on October 29, sending them to the 2016 IHSA Class 2A State Finals, which will be contested on Saturday, November 5, at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Lemont High School Spanish teacher Melissa Karigan was honored by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) at its annual “Those Who Excel” banquet in Normal, Ill., on October 22. Karigan was one of just seven teachers from across the state to be cited with an “Award of Excellence” in the Early Career Educator category. She received her award from State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Smith. Read More
