Three more Lemont High School seniors have committed to play college football beginning in Fall 2016. Offensive lineman Zach Bertram will play the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point; defensive lineman Brandon Lewis will play at Millikin University; and linebacker John Polk will play football and wrestle at Central College. The Lemont High School Educational Foundation has committed to supporting 13 grants for nearly $44,000 for the 2016-17 school year. Grant proposals were submitted by Lemont High School faculty and staff, with the goal of enhancing educational opportunities for the school’s enrollment of more than 1,400 students. Read More
Thanks to their efforts in sectional competition, five Lemont High School students have advanced to compete at the 2016 IHSA Journalism State Finals, which will be contested on the campus of Eastern Illinois University on Friday, April 29. Junior Heather Miller posted top-three finishes in two events, while seniors Reanna Comiso and Alejandra Rodriguez and juniors Claudia Mayer and Maggie O’Brien each finished among the top two in their events. Lemont High School will host its annual “Senior Citizen Spring Social” in conjunction with a dress rehearsal of its Spring Musical on Wednesday, May 11. A reception will be held from 5:45-6:45 p.m., prior to a 7 p.m. showing of Seussical. The event is free of charge and is geared toward adults ages 55 and over, giving them a chance to mingle with the school’s students. The Cat in the Hat will be front and center as he narrates the magical story of a Tony Award-nominated winning Broadway work on Lemont High School’s stage. The school’s Performing Arts Center will feature Seussical for nightly performances from Thursday, May 12, through Saturday, May 14. Read More
Lemont High School welcomed its first class of Science National Honor Society inductees with a brief ceremony in the school’s Board Room on March 23. A total of 31 students were honored for their excellence in science. Read More
