NOTE: Regulations require Districts participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to set prices for paid meals at a rate that is more equal with funds brought in from free and reduced-price meal reimbursements. This requirement is known as Paid Lunch Equity (PLE). For the 2021-22 school year, Lemont High School will operate the NSLP Seamless Summer Option (SSO), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued waivers for Districts operating SSO, which allows us to provide meals to all students at no cost. Therefore, all meals are free to every student again this school year. Students may take a maximum of one breakfast and one lunch each day. A la carte items are not available at this time.
Even though all meals are free this year, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has suggested school districts maintain PLE and publish pricing for the community to know where prices would stand if SSO were not available. Therefore, the price for a paid lunch for the 2021-22 school year would have been $3.
Lemont High School's Cafeteria Services provides the school's students, faculty and staff with a variety of nutritional meal choices during both breakfast and lunch. Serving a population of approximately 1,400 students and nearly 200 staff members, In a typical year, Cafeteria Services provides opportunities to purchase either full meals or a la carte items.
The cost for a "Class A" lunch for students - which includes a main dish, sides of fruit and/or vegetables and milk - has been established at $3 per day. The staff lunch - which also includes a main dish, sides of fruit and/or vegetables and milk - is $4 per day. In a typical year, a la carte items are available at varying prices during both breakfast and lunch.
