Lemont placed 24th among 59 teams at the 2025 Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Division 3AA State Finals. The team posted top 25 finishes in five events.
The team’s top finish in state finals competition came in the Freshman/Sophomore 8-Person team event, as Lemont placed 22nd. That group included sophomores Jacob Emini, Edvin Morochin, Giselle Peng and Victor Rafacz, and freshmen Mason Kubicz, John Perry, Tomas Taujanskas and Alex Tchernev.
Peng was the top individual finisher in state finals competition, placing 38th in the Geometry event.
Lemont placed third at its regional. Its top individual finishers included senior Sophia Bushnell and junior Luke Rupert, who were second in Pre-Calculus and Algebra II, respectively.
Lemont won the South Suburban Conference-Blue Division earlier this year.
Lemont’s Mathletes team is coached by Angela Marshall, Abbey Scupin and Ken Suslek.
