While posting its second straight sectional title, head coach Jon DeGuzman’s boys’ tennis team advanced three qualifiers to the 2025 IHSA Class A Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which were contested from May 29-31 and hosted by Palatine High School. Lemont was represented at the boys’ tennis state finals for the 18th time in 19 seasons.

Senior Sean Svoboda won three of five matches and reached the fourth consolation round in singles play. All three of his wins came by straight sets, including his opening match and two contests in the consolation round.

The doubles teams of Aditya Oberai and Vikram Oberai and Marco Pavlica and Mitchell Sowa each dropped both of their contests. Each of their opening round matches was extended to a third set tiebreaker.

Lemont’s state finals qualifiers earned their berths by placing among the top four in their respective competitions at the IHSA Joliet Catholic Sectional. Svoboda won the singles competition, while the Oberais topped their teammates in the championship match in doubles. Lemont won the program’s fourth IHSA Sectional title.

Svoboda finished the season with a 20-7 record and won the No. 1 singles flight in the South Suburban Conference. The Oberais won the SSC’s No. 1 doubles flight and posted an 18-7 record, while Pavlica and Sowa captured the SSC’s No. 2 doubles flight and were 16-4 overall. Lemont won the SSC Blue Division title.

Lemont’s best state finals finish came in 2024, when it tied for 12th at the IHSA Class A State Finals. It has advanced a full contingent of two singles and two doubles qualifiers to the state finals twice (2017, 2024).

Lemont has won 17 SSC Blue titles in 18 seasons (2007-18, 2021-25). It also has advanced competitors to the IHSA State Finals 18 times since 2006 (2006-17, 2019, 2021-25) and won four IHSA Sectional titles (2013, 2017, 2024, 2025).
