Making its first state finals appearance since 2018 and the program’s seventh state finals trip overall, Lemont High School’s girls’ soccer team finished fourth at the 2026 IHSA Class 2A State Finals, which were contested on June 5-6 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on the campus of North Central College.
Lemont earned the program’s seventh state trophy in head coach Rick Prangen’s final season. Since the IHSA moved to a three-class system during the 2008-09 school year, no Class 2A program has earned more state trophies.
In the third-place match, Lemont dropped a 1-0 decision to Wheaton St. Francis, as goalie Allison Tilly made five saves. Lemont fell short by a 5-0 score in the state semifinal match against eventual state champion Crystal Lake Central.
Lemont reached the state finals for the first time in nearly a decade after beating Geneva, 3-0, in an IHSA Super-Sectional contest on June 2.
Lemont finished the season with a 23-3-1 record and enjoyed a school record 24-match unbeaten streak from March 19-June 2. Its win total is tied for the second-most in school history; the 2018 squad won 25 matches, while the 2007 and 2011 teams each won 23 contests. The squad outscored its foes by a 126-15 margin and posted 18 shutouts while reaching the 20-win mark for the tenth time in program history.
Lemont also captured the program’s 21st straight conference championship dating back to 2005, which includes 19 straight South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles since 2007.
Gabriela Kuruc led Lemont with a school-record 32 goals and finished with 72 points, becoming the first player in program history with at least two 70-point seasons (she had 74 points in 2025). Madison Weil scored 25 goals, tied a school record with 26 assists, and set a new school standard with 76 points.
Lemont posted a runner-up finish in its first state finals appearance in 2009, finished third in 2011 in 2018, and placed fourth in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2026.
