Nine-year member Mary Tally has submitted her resignation from the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education. First elected to the Board of Education in 2011, she won her third four-year term in 2019, when she also was elected by her peers as the Board Secretary. She no longer will be a District 210 resident after recently selling her home.
“Speaking on behalf of colleagues both past and present who have served alongside her, I would like to express sincere appreciation to Mary for her commitment to Lemont High School and the Lemont community,” District 210 Board of Education President Pam Driscoll said. “Mary has brought a valuable perspective as a board member, and has had a key role in everything from the hiring of key administrative positions to the development of the school’s new website. Her impact will be felt for years to come.”
The Board of Education has established the process by which it will fill her position. This appointment will be temporary, as the timing of Tally’s resignation will result in a two-year term being available during the Spring 2021 election. A four-year term next will be available for this Board of Education position in Spring 2023.
The district has reported the board vacancy to the South Cook Intermediate Service Center, as required by state statute. The Board of Education has 60 days to fill the vacancy.
District 210’s Board of Education will accept materials from interested candidates through Friday, October 2. Applicants must be citizens of the United States, at least eighteen years of age, residents of the state and school district for at least one year immediately preceding the most recent election, and registered voters.
