Kelly Lucio tabbed as District 210’s Interim Director of Special Education Services

Kelly Lucio

The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Kelly Lucio as the Interim Director of Special Education Services for the 2022-23 school year.

The Lemont High School community still is mourning the tragic loss of Dr. Christine Flores, who passed away on May 31 after having served as the district’s Director of Special Education Services since 2008. Over the past couple of years, Lucio and Dr. Flores worked together closely on many facets of the Special Education Department.

Lucio has served as Lemont High School’s Special Education Department Chair since the start of the 2019-20 school year. Prior to arriving at Lemont, she was a program supervisor at the A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative (2015-19), an instructional coach with the New Teacher Center Chicago (2014-15), a teacher and case manager with the National Teachers Academy (2013-14), a teacher and RTI coordinator with Chicago Public Schools (2011-13), and a teacher with the San Diego Unified School District (2009-11).

Lucio earned a bachelor of arts degree in Special Education from Roosevelt University in 2008, and was awarded masters degrees from the American College of Education in 2011 (Curriculum & Instruction) and 2013 (Education Leadership). Earlier this spring, she earned a Director of Special Education endorsement from the University of St. Francis (Ill.).
