Good news: the sun will come out on Lemont High School’s Performing Arts Center stage in May! The school will feature Music Theater International’s Annie for nightly performances from Thursday, May 8, through Saturday, May 10. In conjunction with the musical, the school’s Art Department will host a spring art show in Gallery 306.
With the music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan, all performances of Music Theater International’s Annie will begin at 7 p.m., and tickets are on sale now for each performance. All tickets are $15, and all seats in the Performing Arts Center - including the balcony and main level - are reserved seats.
Individuals wishing to purchase tickets in advance must do so online and pay with a credit card. In addition to skipping the ticket lines the night of the show, purchasing tickets in advance allows patrons to choose their own seats and print their tickets at home. Tickets may be purchased at the link at the top of the page.
Pending availability, tickets may be purchased at the door each evening via credit card or with cash or check. For more ticket information, call (630) 243-3815.
Music Theater International’s Annie is based on Harold Gray’s popular comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie.” Winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the beloved show features the memorable songs “Tomorrow,” “Maybe,” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life,” among others. Sporting the perfect balance of street smarts and optimism, Annie warms the hearts of the audience as she rises from next to nothing in New York City. Determined to find the parents who left her at the orphanage years ago, things don’t quite work out for her the way she plans. However, Annie manages to thwart the plans of the evil Miss Hannigan and finds a new family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks and his secretary Grace Farrell, all with her lovable pooch, Sandy, by her side.
Music Theater International’s Annie will be produced by Dave Nommensen, directed by Tammy Heerde, and choreographed by Jeni Donahue. Ben Clemons will head orchestral direction, while Andreece Nikudinovski leads vocal direction and Michael Oldham serves as the rehearsal accompanist. Designers for the production will include Thomas Kieffer (costumes), Robert Kuper (make-up), Max Thalhammer (sound) and Daniel Salazar (lighting). Jeana Parry will serve as Box Office and Front of House manager.
Annie is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are supplied by MTI.
Gallery 306 debuted in Fall 2017 and typically hosts multiple shows each year. The spring art show will be open from 5:45-6:45 p.m. nightly from May 9-11, spotlighting a variety of outstanding work from Lemont High School students.
