Lemont H.S. to be closed on March 13, 2020

In an effort to ensure the health and well-being of students, faculty and staff, and their families, Lemont High School will be closed on Friday, March 13. All instructional and extra-curricular activities are cancelled through Sunday, March 15. Additionally, all activities are cancelled after school on Thursday, March 12, and out-of-district Special Education students will not attend school on March 13.

It is important to note Lemont High School administrators are not aware of any students, faculty or staff - or their family members - who have been positively diagnosed with COVID-19.

However, a visitor on campus from earlier this week has reported that her child (who attends school in a different district) was kept home today with symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19.

Lemont High School is taking the precautionary measure to close the building for a “deep cleaning” on Friday, March 13, and over the weekend.

School administrators will communicate with stakeholders if they are made aware of a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 within the school community.

School administrators expect school to be in session on Monday, March 16, but will communicate with students, parents/guardians, and faculty and staff no later than 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, if that were to change.

School administrators continue to monitor information and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and are developing contingency plans for eLearning in the event the building needs to be closed for an extended period of time.
