Registration now open for spring semester SAT prep classes at Lemont

Beginning in February, Lemont High School will offer SAT 1600, an eight-week test preparation program designed to familiarize students with the SAT. Registration has begun for SAT 1600, which is open to all Lemont High School juniors, as well as juniors from other area schools.

Students may choose between two eight-week programs, each of which consists of two-hour weekly sessions that run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Lemont High School. The first session begins on Tuesday, February 4, and will meet each Tuesday through March 24. The second session will meet on Wednesdays from February 5 through March 25. Students in both sessions will take a Practice SAT during the week of March 16.

The course costs $310 for the eight sessions, which includes the textbook and Practice SAT.

The deadline to register for one of the school’s two SAT 1600 programs is Wednesday, January 15, or when all sections are filled.

The goal of SAT 1600 is to give students the confidence, strategies and content necessary to score their personal best on the SAT. The course does this by familiarizing students with the elements of the SAT, from content and timing to pacing and strategies. The course also reviews difficult concepts, specifically in English and mathematics, and allows students an opportunity to take a practice exam. All SAT 1600 instructors are carefully trained and certified.

The Illinois State Board of Education mandates that all school districts participate in an annual statewide assessment. Lemont High School’s Class of 2021 will take the SAT on Tuesday, April 14.
