Registration now open for spring semester SAT prep classes at Lemont

Beginning in February, Lemont High School will offer SAT 1600, a test preparation program designed to familiarize students with the SAT. Registration has begun for SAT 1600, which is open to all Lemont High School juniors, as well as juniors from other area schools.

This year, the course will be hosted live using Google Meets to ensure an interactive classroom experience. Students can choose a time slot that best fits their schedules. Available time slots include Mondays from 7-9 p.m.; Tuesdays from either 4-6 p.m. or 7-9 p.m.; Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. or 7-9 p.m.; Thursdays from 7-9 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-noon.

Classes begin the week of February 1, and are scheduled to end before the administration of the state-mandated SAT in April. Students may make up classes on a different day if needed.

The course costs $325 and includes eight sessions, the textbook, and a Practice SAT taken the week of March 15.

The deadline to register for one of the school’s SAT 1600 programs is December 31. Students must register and pay online. Students who register by the deadline are guaranteed enrollment in the course.

The goal of SAT 1600 is to give students the confidence, strategies and content necessary to score their personal best on the SAT. The course does this by familiarizing students with the elements of the SAT, from content and timing to pacing and strategies. The course also reviews difficult concepts, specifically in English and mathematics, and allows students an opportunity to take a practice exam. All SAT 1600 instructors are carefully trained and certified.

The Illinois State Board of Education mandates that all school districts participate in an annual statewide assessment. Lemont High School’s Class of 2022 will take the SAT on Tuesday, April 13.
