Tony Pesole
Freshman
Industrial Technology

The Industrial Technology Department has selected Tony Pesole as the Freshman Student of the Month. Noted for his strong work ethic and a fierce desire to do well in everything he does, Tony notes that his favorite classes are Accelerated Algebra II Honors and his technology-related courses, including Orientation to Industrial Technology and Web Design & Development. A high honor roll student, his teachers indicate that he is a motivated self-learner who persistently seeks solutions until he can obtain the correct answer. Tony is involved in the Robotics and Science Fiction Clubs, as well as the Special Olympics. In the future, he hopes to work in the video game field, either as a producer, designer or programmer. He enjoys reading, computer research, outdoor activities and playing Pokemon in his spare time.

Kevin Goffard
Sophomore
English

Kevin Goffard was chosen as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the English Department. A high honor roll student, Kevin is described by his teachers as a hard-working student who consistently turns in quality work and has made great strides academically. Kevin lists English, Drawing & Design II and Theatre Technology II as his favorite classes. He keeps himself busy with a number of extra-curricular activities, including the Drama Club and the tech crew for Performing Arts Center performances. He is also a CCD teacher’s aide and an altar server at his church. In the future, Kevin plans to attend college and obtain a degree in education or criminal justice, while also continuing to participate in theatre technology. In his spare time, the Cubs fan works in lawn service, enjoys mountain biking and camping, and plays video games.

Nick Slager
Junior
Family and Consumer Science

The Family and Consumer Science Department decided upon Nick Slager as the Junior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student who lists Physical Education and Food Prep among his favorite courses, Nick stands out to his teachers because of his ability to work with other students. He goes out of his way to help students who need assistance, treats others with kindness and respect while displaying a pleasant attitude, and works hard in class. Nick is a member of the boys’ soccer team, and has been involved in the program for three years. In the future, he plans on attending college, and ultimately hopes to work in either the business field or in sports medicine. In his spare time, Nick enjoys having a good time with his friends.

Lauren Kornacker
Senior
Social Studies

Lauren Kornacker was tabbed as the Senior Student of the Month by the Social Studies Department. A high honor roll student who lists AP Biology, Anatomy & Physiology Honors and Spanish IV Honors as her favorite classes, Lauren is looked upon as a model student by her teachers. She is described as hard working, conscientious, and as a “go to” person when a teacher needs a thoughtful answer in a classroom discussion. Her self-discipline and maturity have led her to set high standards for herself both in and out of the classroom. A member of the National Honor Society, Foreign Language Club, Teens Against Tobacco Use and the St. Alphonsus Church Choir, she also has been a three-year captain of the state-qualifying Poms squad and participates in the Elite Dance Academy outside of school. She hopes to become a nurse practitioner or pediatrician, and enjoys dancing, playing the flute, spending time with friends and working - either at Bed, Bath & Beyond or as a babysitter - in her free time..
