Shane Purtle
Family and Consumer Science

Shane Purtle has been named the Freshman Student of the Month by the Family and Consumer Science Department. Shortly into his high school tenure, Shane has already impressed his teachers with his effort in class, positive attitude and willingness to assist at any time. He enjoys Biology and Family and Consumer Science, noting that he can’t wait to cook. A member of the Illinois Junior Golf Association, Shane is a member of the boys’ golf team and has already participated in a number of varsity matches. He is also involved in Foreign Language Club and Student Council and is a Freshman Class Officer. He hopes to achieve a 4.0 GPA in high school and help the golf team to a state championship, and someday aims to play collegiate golf. In his free time, Shane likes to play X-Box and hang out with his family.

Rita Kuseliauskas

The Social Studies Department selected Rita Kuseliauskas as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll student whose favorite classes include Biology and Geometry, Rita stands out as a model student because of her leadership. A frequent contributor to class discussions who consistently does more than what is required, she often leads cooperative activities in class and makes her group successful. Rita participates in a wide range of activities in school - including girls’ swimming and diving, Community Service for Everyone (CSFE), Foreign Language Club and Mathletes - and is also involved in dance. She hopes to someday become a nurse or a speech pathologist. In her spare time, Rita enjoys reading, walking and dancing.

Zack Bruce
Industrial Technology

Zack Bruce was tabbed as the Junior Student of the Month by the Industrial Technology Department. An honor roll student, Zack’s favorite courses are 3D Design and Animation and Web Design; he is completing independent studies in each of the subjects this year and is committed to producing high quality work. His teachers note that he is dedicated to developing his technical skills, but does not hesitate to help others understand complex and challenging concepts. Honored for his design skills in a competition at Joliet Junior College last year, Zack plans on studying 3D Graphic Design in college, and ultimately hopes to work at a studio that creates and produces games. Outside of school, he works as a Webmaster for Envy MedSpa in Homer Glen, and enjoys playing video games, building models and spending time with friends.

Jennifer Jeffrey

The English Department picked Jennifer Jeffrey as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student who is a positive contributor in class, Jennifer’s teachers cite her for her strong writing skills and a charisma that allows her to lead by example. She lists Calculus and Band as her favorite courses, and is involved in a multitude of extra-curricular activities. An award-winning member of the Mathletes squad, she participates in both the Concert and Marching Bands, was a part of “West Side Story” last year, is a member of both the Drama Club and Foreign Language Club, and is involved with the Bolingbrook Kinetic Dance Company. She hopes to attend Elmhurst College and ultimately earn a masters degree in mathematics and secondary education in order to become a teacher. In her spare time, she works as a wedding musician, collects coins from foreign countries and practices ballet.
