April 2010 Students of the Month

Sam Baldassano
Freshman
Social Studies
The Social Studies Department named Sam Baldassano as the Freshman Student of the Month. Described as a classroom leader to whom other students look for guidance, Sam lists Cultural Geography and Biology as his favorite courses. His teachers note that he is an exemplary student, performs at a high level in both written and oral work, and has shown the ability to be a well-rounded student. A high honor roll selection, Sam has already involved himself in the school’s athletic department, participating in both the baseball and basketball programs at the freshman level. His future goals include attending a good college and eventually obtaining a good job. In his spare time, Sam enjoys playing video games and spending time with his friends.

Jenna Stutz
Sophomore
Family and Consumer Science
Jenna Stutz was picked as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the Family and Consumer Science Department. A high honor roll student, she lists Algebra II and Child Development as her favorite courses. Jenna has excelled in FACS Survey, Parenting and Child Development, and her performance and attitude in those classes indicate she understands the importance of nurturing young children. She and her mother organized a fundraiser to benefit Haitian orphans, an example of her altruistic nature. A member of the basketball program, she is also a part of Community Service for Everyone (CSFE) and volunteers with the Lemont Park District. Jenna plans to obtain a degree in education and work in either elementary or special education. She likes to work out, listen to music and spend time with friends in her free time.

Michael Hayes
Junior
Business
The Business Department tabbed Michael Hayes as the Junior Student of the Month. Described as a student leader who comes to class prepared and energized, Michael lists AP Calculus AB, Accounting II and Chemistry among his favorite courses. He is involved in a number of extra-curricular activities, including the football and speech teams, as well as the Foreign Language Club, Athletic Council and Student Council. Michael also serves as Treasurer of the school’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and recently earned a state title at the FBLA State Leadership Conference. A high honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, he hopes to attend Northwestern University or the University of Michigan. Michael likes to work out, play basketball and spend time with friends.

Josh Eby
Senior
Physical Education
Josh Eby was selected as the Senior Student of the Month by the Physical Education Department. Josh is a high honor roll student who lists Independent Advanced Art V as his favorite class this semester. He is described by his teachers as a student who comes to class every day with a positive attitude, and who also is always willing to assist his teachers or classmates when needed. Josh is active in a number of extra-curricular activities, including the Photography Club and Art Club. He also recently competed at the state level as a member of the school’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). After attending college, he hopes to own his own music venue, similar to the House of Blues. Currently, he is beginning to work on his own clothing line called “Polar Opposite.”
