Shannon Davis
Freshman
Learning Resource Center

Shannon Davis was selected as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Learning Resource Center. An honor roll student, Shannon lists Algebra I and Biology as her favorite courses, and plans on exploring more classes in Art and Family and Consumer Science. Her teachers note that she has an infectious, positive attitude and shows a genuine desire to serve others. She uses her time wisely, and often offers up help in the LRC. She is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and is a member of the school’s Photography Club. Shannon plans on attending college, and may study art. She says that her “dream job” would be as an artist, an owner of an animal shelter, or a teacher. In her free time, she plays the piano, and enjoys drawing, cooking and spending time with her friends.

Monika Filar
Sophomore
Science

The Science Department picked Monika Filar as the Sophomore Student of the Month. Monika says that Geometry, Spanish II and Physics are her favorite courses. A high honor roll student, her teachers note that she goes above and beyond what is expected of her in class, and demonstrates an excellent understanding of difficult concepts. Monika is a member of both the Foreign Language Club and Community Service for Everyone (CSFE). Her cooperation and willingness to assist her classmates make her an asset in her classes. In the future, she plans to attend college, and become either an architect, a psychologist, or a model. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, volunteering, shopping, traveling, fishing and being outdoors.

Peter Cairo
Junior
Music

Peter Cairo was tabbed as the Junior Student of the Month by the Music Department. A high honor roll performer, Peter lists Symphonic Band Honors, Jazz Band Honors, Astronomy and any science-related class as his favorite courses. He has worked hard to learn and grow as a musician, and supports his peers. Peter is involved in the Foreign Language Club and Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE). He also is a member of both the school’s South Suburban Conference-Blue Division champion Scholastic Bowl squad, and the school’s IHSA state-qualifying boys’ bowling team. He plans on attending a good college, but is not yet sure of his career path. In his free time, he likes watching the Chicago Blackhawks and bowling, holds a part-time job, and plays in both the St. Alphonsus and College of DuPage bands.

Delia Ercoli
Senior
English

The English Department chose Delia Ercoli as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Delia has the greatest interest in her English classes, especially those that are writing intensive. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the National French Honor Society. Delia is involved in a wealth of extra-curricular activities, including Symphonic Band, Group Interpretation and Foreign Language Club; she also will take part in this year’s spring musical, Singin’ in the Rain. Delia recently made school history at the IHSA Speech State Finals; she became the first student in school history to qualify for the state finals in two events in the same season, and was the state runner-up in Informative Speaking, the best finish ever for a Lemont student. She will attend Illinois State University to major in English; she someday hopes to be an editor or publisher. In her free time, she teaches French horn lessons, enjoys reading, and spends time with her family and friends.
