Joe Tomecki
Freshman
Health

Joe Tomecki was cited as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Health Department. A high honor roll student, Joe most enjoys Integrated Math I Honors, Biology Honors and Web Design & Development. He holds himself to a high standard, and is a described as a hard-working student who frequently contributes to class discussions. Joe is part of the school’s football, wrestling and boys’ volleyball programs, and also plays ice hockey. He serves as the Freshman Class President, and graduated with honors from an eight-year Polish language curriculum. Joe is interested in becoming a biomedical or aerospace engineer, or pursuing studies in actuarial science or political science. He volunteers at his church and enjoys watching movies, traveling, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.

Nate Barry
Sophomore
Driver Education

The Driver Education Department tabbed Nate Barry as the Sophomore Student of the Month. Nate is a high honor roll performer whose interests include foreign languages and math. His favorite classes include Accelerated Pre-Calculus Honors, AP Physics I and English II Honors. His teachers note that he is a hard worker who strives to do his best. He brings maturity and a positive attitude to the classroom. Nate is a member of the boys’ tennis program, and also is involved with the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering (WYSE), and Foreign Language Club. He hopes to pursue a career in the medical field. In his free time, Nate enjoys playing volleyball and riding ATVs.

Michaela Tauer
Junior
Special Education

Michaela Tauer was cited as the Junior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. Michaela is a high honor roll student who enjoys English, Math, Choir, Ceramics, Adaptive Physical Education, Citizenship and her Work Experience class. She has made excellent progress since her freshman year, blossoming in her willingness to explore new skills and activities. Michaela is a Special Olympics state medalist, a member of the Sparkles dance squad, and works out with the school’s Poms team. She hopes to go to a college or training program that will help her get a job at a department store or grocery store. Michaela enjoys participating in special recreation at The Core, and also likes to go out to eat, watch TV with her brothers, watch movies with her friends, and do arts and crafts with her mom.

Jakub Cikowski
Senior
Student Services

The Student Services Department picked Jakub Cikowski as the Senior Student of the Month. Jakub is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes include Biology: Big History and World History, as well as other science classes. He always is willing to do what is asked of him, and does so in a polite and pleasant manner. Jakub has given his time to tutor other students, and demonstrates a great sense of maturity. He is involved in many extra-curricular activities, including Model UN, Interact, Mathletes, National Honor Society, and National English Honor Society. In college, he plans on studying environmental science; he hopes to help stop the effects of climate change and assist with the problem of coral bleaching. Jakub works part-time at Celina’s Deli, and in his spare time enjoys hiking.
