She is a member of the school’s girls’ basketball program, participates in the Foreign Language Club, and volunteers with her church to supply local food pantries. Her teachers attest that she has become a vital component to the learning environment and has a positive effect on her peers. Leading by example, she works well with her classmates and has earned their respect. Anna hopes to attend a good college and plans on pursuing a career as either an orthopedic surgeon or pediatric nurse. She enjoys photography, traveling, drawing, going to the beach and playing tennis.
Colin Hilger was tabbed as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the Business Department. An honor roll student, Colin states that he most enjoys his classes in mathematics and business – specifically, Personal Finance and Accounting. He plans on taking as many business classes as he can while at Lemont High School. His teachers applaud his determination and work ethic. Colin has played lacrosse for six years, and was a varsity starter on the Lemont Lacrosse club team as a freshman last spring. Colin plans on attending the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he hopes to pursue studies in the business field. He hopes to get a job once he turns 16, and when not playing lacrosse, enjoys spending time with friends.
The Mathematics Department picked Natasha Joseph as the Junior Student of the Month. A high honor roll performer, Natasha’s favorite classes include AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC and Drawing & Painting. Her teachers describe her as kind and witty, and note that she always is engaged and willing to help others. She has been inducted into both the National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta math honor society. A valuable member of the school’s state-qualifier Mathletes squad since her freshman year, Natasha also takes part in the Yearbook Club, Drama Club, Foreign Language Club, and Health Occupations Student Association. She plans on double majoring in math and computer science and hopes to pursue a career in math. She enjoys dancing, drawing, reading, volunteering and spending time with friends.
Jeremy Svoboda was cited as the Senior Student of the Month by the Music Department. Jeremy is an honor roll student who most enjoys AP Music Theory, Stagecraft & Theatre Technology, and his various band classes. He is a great example of how students can take advantage of opportunities in the Music Department, as he has played different instruments in the Jazz Band, Concert Band and Marching Band, while also singing in the school’s a cappella choir. His instructors say that his best qualities are his drive and desire as a musician, and his willingness to lead others in the same direction. In addition to his band commitments, Jeremy also has been involved with Project Infinite Green. While he plans on majoring in computer science, he hopes to become a band director. In his spare time, he practices playing various musical instruments, and also enjoys camping and being outdoors.
