Charity: Feed My Starving Children

Delaney Dewalls
Freshman
Science

Delaney Dewalls was named the Freshman Student of the Month by the Science Department. Delaney states that her favorite academic interests include English, Science, and Family & Consumer Sciences. Her teachers note that she sets a great example for her peers in the classroom, and that she stands out in a room full of responsible, hard-working students. She always seems to be bringing something positive to the classroom. Delaney is a member of the Photography Club, ran in the IHSA Girls’ Cross Country State Finals this fall, and plans on running track this spring. She plans on getting her first job as a camp counselor next summer, and also hopes to start modeling this year. Ultimately, she plans on attending college after wrapping up her high school career.

Matt Krueger
Sophomore
Business

The Business Department cited Matt Krueger as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Matt says that he most enjoys Accounting I and Personal Finance because he is very interested in business. He is enrolled in several business classes, and is taking full advantage of the school’s college preparatory program. Matt does an excellent job balancing academics and extracurricular activities, and comes to class prepared and full of energy. He is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and both the baseball and boys’ basketball programs, and also volunteers for vacation bible school at his church. He plans on maintaining a high grade point average throughout high school, and intends on majoring in accounting in college.

Anna Ford
Junior
Mathematics

Anna Ford was selected by the Mathematics Department as the Junior Student of the Month. Anna is a high honor roll student whose favorite class is AP Calculus. Her teachers describe her as genuinely kind, considerate, and as smart as they come. She is not easily led by the crowd, and is original in her thinking, both socially and academically. Anna serves as captain of the girls’ tennis team, and is the Secretary for the Health Occupations Student Association. She also has competed in the state finals with the Mathletes team, earned induction to both the Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, and is a member of Interact and the Foreign Language Club. She has her sights set on becoming a radiologist. In her free time, Anna enjoys running and digital art.

Josh Gumina
Senior
Music

The Music Department tabbed Josh Gumina as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Josh’s favorite classes include Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band Honors. He plays trombone in the Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Pep Band, sings bass in the a cappella choir, and displays great conducting and leadership skills as the marching band’s head drum major. He first served as a drum major as a freshman. Josh also has been part of the school’s spring musical. He has a calming personality, as well as a drive to find ways to bring students together to be at their best. He plans to major in music education in college. In his spare time, Josh enjoys composing music, learning new things, and flying airplanes.
