Patrick Arnashus
Freshman
Health
Patrick Arnashus was cited as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Health Department. Patrick is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes include Spanish I, Cultural Geography and Web Design & Development. He excels in the field of robotics, and has helped his teams to awards in First LEGO League each of the last two years. Patrick is described by his teachers as extremely mature for a freshman, and is applauded for his efforts to participate in class and complete excellent work. He features outstanding conversational skills and a genuine comfort with himself. In the future, Patrick hopes to attend Georgetown University and pursue studies in finance and foreign service. He enjoys playing the piano, riding his bike, coding, and playing video games with friends.
Sophomore
Driver Education
The Driver Education Department selected Dorothy Koltas as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll performer, Dorothy’s favorite classes include Spanish II, Food Preparation and Personal Finance. She has danced at the Allegro Music and Dance Academy for many years, and was part of the school’s Dance team last fall. An excellent student with a great attitude, Dorothy makes the classroom atmosphere enjoyable, whether in person or remotely. She takes Driver Education seriously and is a major contributor to, and frequent leader of, class discussions. She strives for perfection and truly has excelled during Remote Learning. In the future, Dorothy hopes to have the opportunity to travel the world, and intends on studying criminal justice and dance in college. She enjoys music and hanging out with friends and family.
Alexis Hood
Junior
Special Education
Alexis Hood was named as the Junior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. Alexis is a high honor roll recipient who most enjoys her Marching Band class because of the family-like atmosphere among the members of the Color Guard. She also is a member of the school’s Theatre Technology program, as well as the badminton team. Alexis is described as an extremely hard worker who performs well in school and skillfully balances academics, activities and work. Her teachers highlight her consistently moral and ethical behavior, as well as her friendly and respectful demeanor. After finishing high school, Alexis plans on studying to become a nurse. She works at Turnabout Pizza and in her free time enjoys spending time with her family.
Julie Maduros
Senior
Student Services
The Student Services Department tabbed Julie Maduros as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Julie’s favorite academic interests include English, writing, Spanish and history. As Fundraising Officer for the National Honor Society, she helped implement new activities this year that not only were fun for students, but raised money for charity. She also is a Rho Kappa inductee, serves on the newspaper staff, and is a member of Link Crew and Student Council. Going above and beyond is Julie’s style, and she truly enjoys participating in her school community. Cited as an Illinois State Scholar and AP Scholar with Honors, she plans on pursuing studies in international business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and hopes to study abroad and travel as much as possible. She interns at Big Future Academies, traveled to Yellowstone National Park with Ecology Project International, and enjoys being active and being creative.
