Ashley Leon
Freshman
Remote Learning

Ashley Leon is being honored as the Freshman Student of the Month for her efforts during remote learning. Ashley is a high honor roll performer who most enjoys math classes. A full-time remote learning student all year, she does not shy away from asking questions, and has made a concerted effort to open up and share with teachers and peers alike. Kind and considerate, her teachers note she always is prepared for class and is a strong leader in group settings. Ashley is an avid swimmer who competes for the Lemont Dolphins and earned team MVP honors on the school’s girls’ swimming team last fall. She hopes to be accepted into a good college prior to graduation. In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

John Vranas
Sophomore
Social Studies
The Social Studies Department cited John Vranas as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, John’s favorite classes include AP World History and AP Economics. His kindness, maturity, thoughtfulness and reflectiveness put him in an elite group. He shows a passion for social sciences, having taken four AP classes in his first two years, and is a leader in class discussions. John’s peers look to him out of respect for his opinions and answers. He is involved in Scholastic Bowl, Junior Achievement and Speech Team, serves on the school’s Student Advisory Group, and is active in the Greek Orthodox Church. John plans to attend Georgetown or Notre Dame in hopes of pursuing a legal career or holding federal office. He enjoys volunteering at his church, engaging in political discussions, and the stock market.

Chris Miskiewicz
Junior
Industrial Technology

Chris Miskiewicz was named the Junior Student of the Month by the Industrial Technology Department. Chris is a high honor roll student whose academic interests including math, business, woods classes, and physical education. He has been a standout performer in Woods Technology II this year, and impresses instructors with his work ethic. He usually is among the first students to start working and one of the last to stop, and is eager to tackle cleanup duties or assist his peers. Chris is a successful hockey player who has won multiple tournaments and a league championship with Spartans Hockey Club. In the future, he plans on graduating from college and securing a good job in the business field. Chris works part-time at Home Depot in his spare time, and plays lots of hockey.

Calista Chaidez
Senior
English

The English Department tabbed Calista Chaidez as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Calista is interested in psychology and social work, and enjoys classes in English, Spanish and Choir along with her teaching internship. She represents the English Department’s mission for literacy and excellence, which includes working as a tutor, leading the school’s literary magazine (The Spark), and serving as a National English Honor Society officer. Calista also has earned induction to the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, International Thespian Society, and Rho Kappa, and has been involved in Interact, Yearbook, Drama Club, Link Crew, and the Spring Musical. She plans to pursue a masters degree at Wheaton College, with hopes of becoming a psychologist or school counselor. In her spare time, she babysits and enjoys reading, singing, volunteering, cooking, spending time with friends, and playing with her cats.
