Courtney Towry was cited as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Center for Academic Vision and Excellence (CAVE). Courtney is a high honor roll student whose favorite class is French I. Described as a responsible and motivated student who seeks out help when she needs it, Courtney comes to school each day excited to learn. She excels in her classes by making the best use of Freshman Academy and its resources. Her work ethic and focus serve as a great model for her peers. Courtney has joined the Art Club, Drama Club and Psychology Club in her first year on campus, and has enjoyed being part of school plays. She plans on attending college but is unsure of what she plans to study. In her free time, Courtney enjoys art, reading and cooking.

Natalie Zagata

The Social Studies Department tabbed Natalia Zagata as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Natalia’s current favorite classes include AP Macroeconomics, Personal Finance II, and Athletic Performance. Her peers look to her as a leader, and her outstanding work ethic and contagious positive attitude contribute to an enjoyable classroom environment. Natalia has earned induction to Mu Alpha Theta and the National Art Honor Society, holds leadership positions with both Junior Achievement and Future Business Leaders of America, serves as a class officer, and is part of the tennis and track and field programs. An accomplished artist, she designed last year’s yearbook cover. Natalia plans to attend business school. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and graphic design, reading, and playing tennis.

Emily Grabinski

Emily Grabinski was selected as the Junior Student of the Month by the Industrial Technology Department. Emily is a high honor roll student who most enjoys her English and Stagecraft & Theatre Technology classes. Her teachers applaud how she works vigilantly to understand the challenges at hand. She wants to produce great projects, but makes sure to have fun along the way. Emily has excelled in CAD I/Drafting, Woods Technology I, and multiple levels of Stagecraft & Theatre Technology. She operates the sound board for plays, musicals, and other events, is a member of the Drama Club, and is an International Thespian Society inductee. In the future, Emily plans to become a sound technician. She plays online video games and relishes the chance to join her classmates in building sets for plays and musicals.

Victoria Siek

The English Department selected Victoria Siek as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll performer, Victoria’s favorite classes this year are AP Literature, AP Government, and Creative Writing. Her teachers describe her as the ideal English student. She loves to learn and brings valuable critical thinking and discussion skills to the classroom. Victoria serves as President of the National English Honor Society, and her creativity and work ethic are credited for an increase in membership. She is proud to have helped spread the love of literacy throughout the school. Victoria also is an officer in Rho Kappa, graduated from Polish School last year, has earned her Seal of Biliteracy, and performs on a Polish folk dance team. She plans to attend the University of Illinois and pursue degrees in history and global studies. In her spare time, Victoria works part-time, enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping and hiking, and loves to read.
