Charlie Heger
Freshman
Mathematics
The Mathematics Department tabbed Charlie Heger as the Freshman Student of the Month. Charlie is a high honor roll student who most enjoys mathematics. In fact, as a freshman, he already is enrolled in Integrated Math III Honors after first starting math classes at Lemont High School as a 7th grader. His teachers note he has a sharp ability to make good decisions when it comes to mathematics, persevering through various topics and using appropriate precision to deepen his mastery. Charlie provides insight in the classroom that benefits his peers. He is a member of both the football and baseball programs. In the future, he hopes to play college baseball. In his free time, Charlie enjoys travel sports, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Sophomore
Music
Nora Zhou was selected as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the Music Department. A high honor roll performer, Nora’s favorite subjects include math, space science, and French. She stands out as a very active member of the school community. She captained the JV Dance team this season, and plays trumpet in the Honors Symphonic Band. An all-district musician each of the last two years, she was honored as one of the state’s top violinists when she was placed on the All-State Honors Orchestra. A strong leader whose character and commitment are second to none, Nora is a Tri-M Music Honor Society inductee. She is considering majoring in biology, psychology or astronomy in college. Outside of school, Nora plays violin at the Merit School of Music and is a competitive studio dancer.
Cameron Wehn
Junior
Science
The Science Department cited Cameron Wehn as the Junior Student of the Month. Cameron is a high honor roll student whose interests include environmental science, geopolitics and elections. He is described as an exceptional AP Environmental Science student who is committed to environmental protection and advocates for the enforcement and strengthening of environmental regulations in the United States and around the world. Cameron enjoys the outdoors and nature and believes it is important to protect it. A member of Link Crew and Scholastic Bowl, he has earned induction to the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Rho Kappa. In college, Cameron plans to major in environmental science and international relations. He works at Noodles and Company, and enjoys playing the piano.
Ross Metzler
Senior
Business
Ross Metzler was named the Senior Student of the Month by the Business Department. A high honor roll student, Ross most enjoys business courses, as well as his internship with a local investment firm. He has shown dedication and leadership while becoming a standout in a variety of business classes. Ross also has been active in a variety of extra-curricular activities, taking a leadership role in the inaugural year of the Investment Club and serving two years with Junior Achievement. He also is a member of the Student Advisory Board and Link Crew and earned induction to the National Honor Society. He has narrowed his college search to three schools and plans on participating in the honors program wherever he attends before eventually pursuing a career in investment banking. In his free time, Ross likes mountain biking and digital photography, works at The Forge, and has an interest in stock market research and trading.
