Alexander Lazarowicz
Freshman
Health
Alexander Lazarowicz was tabbed as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Health Department. Alexander is a high honor roll student whose favorite academic interest is science. Specifically, he has taken interest in medicine and disease. His teachers describe him as a great student who is respectful to his peers. Alexander is engaging in the classroom setting, which helps to further classroom discussion. He is a consistent participant in class, and is friendly and kind to all. Alexander is a member of the Chess Team and Scholastic Bowl, and participated in the state finals as a member of the Mathletes squad. He also plays soccer and attends Polish school, and was a GeoBee state qualifier. In the future, Alexander hopes to become a pediatrician. He enjoys playing with his dog and practicing soccer.
Sophomore
Driver Education
The Driver Education Department selected Samuel Gaudio as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll performer, Samuel’s favorite classes include English II Honors, Personal Finance and Web Design. He is described as an excellent student who makes the classroom atmosphere enjoyable. He works hard in and out of class to be the best student possible, and often is a leader of classroom discussions. He frequently helps peers when they have questions about material in class. Samuel is accomplished in karate, having won three first-place trophies for sparring. He also has won awards in band. He hopes to attend Purdue University, where he would plan on pursuing a computer science degree. In his free time, Samuel likes biking, playing video games, fishing and boating.
Ella Quinn
Junior
Special Education
Ella Quinn was cited as the Junior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. Ella is a high honor roll student who states her favorite class is Earth & Space Science. She has come a long way academically since her freshman year, moving from a schedule of mostly self-contained classes to one of mostly general education classes. She not only maintains good grades, but works two jobs and helps care for her family. Ella likes to be challenged academically and takes responsibility for her learning. A member of the Principal’s Advisory Committee, Ella is proud of earning straight As as a freshman and continuing to excel academically throughout her career. She aspires to be a singer. Ella enjoys singing, drawing, writing and gaming, and holds two part-time jobs.
Gracie Meloni
Senior
Student Services
The Student Services Department named Gracie Meloni as the Senior Student of the Month. Gracie is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes include AP Government, College Writing, Calculus and AP Economics. The Student Services Department has been appreciative of her efforts in connecting with students and helping to plan the recent “College Talk” event for underclassman students and parents. Gracie is passionate about serving her community. She has earned induction to the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and English National Honor Society, and is a member of Link Crew and the Leo Club. She won a state title as a member of the Future Business Leaders of America last year. An Illinois State Scholar, Gracie earned a full tuition scholarship to Ohio State University, where she plans to study business economics. In her free time, she teaches piano and likes horseback riding, singing, and playing piano at church.
