Anicka Herout
Freshman
Science

Anicka Herout was selected by the Science Department as the Freshman Student of the Month. Anicka lists Orientation to Industrial Technology and Biology Honors as her favorite classes to this point in her high school career. She already has involved herself in on-campus activities, having been part of the girls’ volleyball program this fall. Anicka is described as prompt and respectful of both her instructors and her peers. A leader in her lab group, her summative responses often are used by her teacher as exemplars for fellow classmates to review. She demonstrates a fantastic ability to analyze. Anicka received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence at the end of her 8th grade year. At this time, she is unsure of her future plans. In her free time, Anicka enjoys playing video games and listening to music.

Marty Kaminski
Sophomore
Business

The Business Department tabbed Marty Kaminski as the Sophomore Student of the Month. Marty is a high honor roll student who most enjoys business classes. A member of the football program, he also competes in shot put and discus as part of the boys’ track and field team and is involved with Junior Achievement. He has a keen interest in business and is eager to connect how world events affect the American economy. A recipient of the President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Marty has completed a 100-plus mile backpacking trip and placed in a regional fencing tournament. In the future, he hopes to earn his private pilot’s license, become an Eagle Scout, and create and sustain a successful business. Marty works at his family’s business and enjoys riding his bike and hanging out with friends.

Aashka Trivedi
Junior
Mathematics

Aashka Trivedi was cited by the Mathematics Department as the Junior Student of the Month. A high honor roll student who most enjoys AP Biology and Advanced Science Research, she is described as the type of student all teachers want in their classes. She works hard to better herself and is a great teammate in any situation. A standout member of the Mathletes team, Aashka has earned induction to the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Rho Kappa and Mu Alpha Theta, is captain of the girls’ tennis program, and is involved in Interact and Link Crew, among others. She was selected for a symposium at a writing conference for a paper she wrote on mental illness. She plans on attending medical school and pursuing a career in healthcare. Aashka likes reading, writing, drawing, playing tennis and playing the piano.

Nathan McFarland
Senior
Music

The Music Department named Nathan McFarland as the Senior Student of the Month. Nathan is a high honor roll student who most enjoys Choir and AP Calculus BC. He is described as a great singer who stands out as a leader in the Choir’s Baritone section. As a junior, Nathan was selected as a member of both the Illinois Music Educators Association All-District and All-State Choirs. This year, he already has been selected to ILMEA All-District Choir, and hopes for his second all-state selection. Not only is Nathan an outstanding singer, but he also is kind and patient when working with other members of his choir section. He previously has been involved in the Winter Play and Spring Musical, and is eager to fully develop the school’s A Capella Club. Nathan hopes to earn induction into the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He holds a job at Target, sings every day, and likes spending time with friends and people who are close to him.
