The Mathematics Department cited Madison Bostjancic as the Freshman Student of the Month. Madison is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes include American Sign Language I, English I Honors, and Integrated Math I. A member of the varsity dance team, she dances for a studio, and also has joined the Leo Club. Madison stands out in the classroom because of her positive attitude, outstanding effort, and willingness to help her peers. She demonstrates a genuine love of learning and often asks clarifying questions while engaging in lessons. She hopes to earn induction to the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society, and may pursue studies in criminology or criminal justice. Madison assists with children’s dance classes and likes to read, paint, and spend time with family and friends.

Julianna Duran was tabbed as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the Music Department. A high honor roll selection, Julianna most enjoys band, Integrated Math III Honors, and STEM Math Honors. She is a leader in the “pit” percussion section in the marching band, but is truly a standout pianist. Selected as the 2022 Illinois Music Educators Association District 1 solo pianist, she is featured in the Honors Symphonic Band and received a perfect score in the IHSA Solo & Ensemble competition. Julianna also is involved with Mathletes, Scholastic Bowl, and the Speech Team, and has earned induction to Mu Alpha Theta and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She plans to pursue studies in biomedical engineering or psychiatry. She enjoys playing piano, reading, and hanging out with her friends.
Alana Nisperos

The Science Department selected Alana Nisperos as the Junior Student of the Month. Alana is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes including AP Physics II, Earth & Space Science, and Stagecraft & Theater Technology. Alana captains the Speech Team and was a state and national qualifier in 2022. She also serves as Vice President of the International Thespian Society, has earned induction to three additional honor societies, and is a member of the Drama Club, Student Advisory, and Academic Challenge. Alana also is a chemistry research intern at UIC, and will serve as stage manager for the spring musical. She is a classroom leader and exemplifies grit and persistence. Alana plans to major in chemistry and hopes to become a laboratory manager. She enjoys writing, balisong flipping, and cloud watching.

Julia Bacon

Julia Bacon was chosen as the Senior Student of the Month by the Business Department. A high honor roll student, Julia’s academic interests include economics, accounting, world history, and environmental science. She was tabbed as an Illinois State Scholar, is a member of the Health Occupations Student Association, and has earned induction to four honor societies. Her teachers describe her as hardworking, trustworthy, mature, and a student of integrity. Julia has a tremendous work ethic, is eager to learn, works well independently, and wants to be challenged. She plans on pursuing studies in accounting in college and has designs on becoming a CPA. In her free time, Julia helps teach students of various ages how to read, and works part-time at a restaurant.
