Jakub Maka
Freshman
Family & Consumer Sciences
The Family & Consumer Sciences Department tabbed Jakub Maka as the Freshman Student of the Month. Jakub states that he most enjoys mathematics, including his current math class, Integrated Math I Honors. He is a member of the football program, and is planning on joining the boys’ track and field squad in the spring. Though he has been on campus for a short time, he already has stood out in many ways to his teachers. Jakub is a natural leader in the classroom and often is the first to participate and share his opinion. He is respectful and attentive, and his peers look to him to set the tone in class as he weighs in on the day’s topic. A track and field state qualifier last year as a middle schooler, Jakub hopes to someday earn a scholarship to play football.
Max Bruzga
Sophomore
World Languages
Max Bruzga was cited as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the World Languages Department. A high honor roll student, Max’s favorite classes include Biology Honors and Chemistry Honors. He is involved in the Health Occupations Student Association and the boys’ tennis team, and also serves as a Sophomore Class Officer. A born leader with a passion for language, Max speaks English and Lithuanian and is currently enrolled in Spanish II Honors, where his accent is impeccable. He has completed 12 years of Lithuanian school with high honors. Max hopes to study at Harvard Medical School, with an ultimate goal of becoming a neurosurgeon. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports, gardening, reading, participating in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, playing the piano, and volunteering with Ellie Strong.
Zaaron Tyebjee
Junior
Art
The Art Department cited Zaaron Tyebjee as the Junior Student of the Month. Zaaron is a high honor roll student who enjoys social studies classes, as well as AP English Language & Composition, Drawing & Painting II, and Anatomy & Physiology Honors. Zaaron twice has been cited with the Art Department’s monthly top student honors, is a member of the Principal’s Student Advisory group, and is an award-winning member of the Speech Team. Zaaron in an extremely dedicated artist whose work manifests a high level of creativity. Eager for feedback and willing to ask for help when needed, Zaaron takes on challenges with difficult subject matter. With future plans of majoring in psychology and a goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon, Zaaron enjoys reading, cooking and baking, and designing.
Colin Crane
Senior
Physical Education
Colin Crane was selected as the Senior Student of the Month by the Physical Education Department. Colin is a high honor roll student who says he has most enjoyed business classes, including Personal Finance, Business Economics, and Sports & Entertainment Marketing, among others. He was a member of the varsity boys’ volleyball team last spring as it won 23 matches and captured a South Suburban Conference-Blue Division title with its 10-0 league record. Colin’s teachers note he is great to have in class, consistently does what is asked of him, and works hard. He also is willing to help his classmates, and lets his actions do the talking. Colin plans to attend college and hopes to start his own business. He works part-time at Jewel-Osco and likes to watch and play sports in his free time.
