The Center for Academic Vision & Excellence (CAVE) tabbed Morgan Piont as the Freshman Student of the Month. Morgan is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes include English I and Human Geography. She is described as an exceptional student who takes full advantage of being in Freshman Academy. Morgan consistently is on task, frequently communicates with teachers, and seeks help from CAVE interns when needed. Additionally, she is respectful to her peers and is willing to lend a hand when called upon. Morgan is a member of the school’s softball program and twice has earned MVP awards at softball tournaments. In the future, she plans on attending college and pursuing studies in physical therapy. Morgan enjoys softball in her free time.

Samantha Knutte

Samantha Knutte was cited as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the Social Studies Department. A high honor roll performer, Samantha lists Chemistry Honors, Spanish II Honors, English II Honors, and AP World History as her favorite classes. An award-winning member of both the Mathletes and badminton teams, she also is a member of the Art Club and Leo Club. Her teachers appreciate her work ethic and applaud her inquisitive nature, as she asks thought-provoking questions that deepen her own understanding and encourage her classmates to think critically. In the future, Samantha would like to attend college and pursue a career related to sustainability. In her spare time, she likes spending time with friends, baking, and traveling to tropical places, and also serves as a food pantry volunteer.

Sean Svoboda

Industrial Technology

The Industrial Technology Department selected Sean Svoboda as the Junior Student of the Month. Sean is a high honor roll student whose favorite class is Woods II and who is keenly interested in engineering. A member of the boys’ tennis and chess programs, he has earned induction to the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, and is a member of the Robotics Club and Science Club. Sean is described as a natural in the woodshop who has developed a terrific portfolio. His work shows attention to detail and a passion for the subject matter, and he has proven to be a classroom leader who takes time to assist his peers. In the future, Sean hopes to attend college and study mechanical engineering. He works part-time at Heroes West and enjoys cars.

Quinton Peterson

English

Quinton Peterson was named the Senior Student of the Month by the English Department. A high honor roll student, Quinton most enjoys Cinema Studies and College Writing. He has gone above and beyond in all of his English classes, and especially in Cinema Studies. He has tackled several video projects to showcase Lemont High School, and has an amazing eye for detail in filming and editing. He was part of a team of students who placed in the top three at the IHSA Short Film Festival this spring. An accomplished track and field athlete, Quinton qualified for the IHSA Class 3A State Finals in two hurdles events last year and also was part of a relay team that competed at the state finals. Recently, he won the Class 3A 60 meter hurdles at the Illinois Top Times Meet. In the future, he hopes to work in production in the film industry. Quinton enjoys composing graphics and videos for both the school and his friends.
