Matthew Chuchra
Freshman
Health
Matthew Chuchra was selected as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Health Department. Matthew is a high honor roll performer who lists Orientation to Industrial Technology as his favorite class. Matthew’s teachers indicate he stands out in numerous ways. Academically, he shows great concern for his grades and is a consistent participant in classroom discussions. He answers questions, helps other students, and seems to really enjoy learning. Matthew is very friendly both with his classmates and instructors, and is a member of the school’s boys’ swimming team. While his future plans are up in the air, Matthew says he may wish to pursue a career as an engineer. He enjoys playing basketball in his spare time.

Driver Education
The Driver Education Department tabbed Cory Zator as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Cory’s favorite academic interests include history, business, and finance. A member of both the school’s football and wrestling programs, he qualified for the 2023 IHSA Class 2A Wrestling Individual State Finals as a freshman. Cory’s teachers describe him as an excellent student with a great attitude who helps make the classroom atmosphere enjoyable. He takes his work seriously and not only is a major contributor to classroom discussions, but often leads them. Cory puts in work outside the classroom to ensure his success. He plans on studying business in college. Cory enjoys exercising and spending time with his family.

Sophia Bushnell was cited as the Junior Student of the Month by the Student Services Department. Sophia is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes include AP Calculus BC, AP English Language & Composition, AP U.S. History, and Journalism. She is willing to help the Student Services Department with tasks ranging from giving tours to new students and helping them get acclimated to Lemont High School, to assisting with 8th Grade Open House. A member of many student activities, she has held officer roles in the World Languages Club and class government, earned induction to Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society, and is a Mathletes conference champion. In the future, Sophia plans to become a psychiatrist. She works two part-time jobs and likes art, reading, music, and hanging out with friends.

Joshua is a high honor roll performer who most enjoys art classes; he has been enrolled in Ceramics and Graphic Design classes this year as a senior. He also is a member of the Art Club. Joshua’s teachers describe him as an incredibly hard worker, both in class and at home. He puts in hours of work in order to meet challenges, and is willing to accept help and try to improve himself in all aspects. Joshua has worked in the Common Grounds coffee house for two years, where he has improved his work and social skills to help him achieve post-secondary goals. He plans to attend community college after graduation and pursue studies as a veterinary technician. Joshua works part-time at Jewel and likes video games and art.
