Lukas Kuprescenko
Freshman
Industrial Technology
Lukas Kuprescenko was selected as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Industrial Technology Department. The classes Lukas most enjoys are Human Geography and Orientation to Industrial Technology. His teachers enjoy having him in class due to his fantastic work ethic and because he always is thinking. Lukas asks great questions that demonstrate his involvement and a desire to produce his best possible work. He also shows a willingness to assist his classmates and features a positive attitude that lifts the whole class. Lukas is a member of the school’s boys’ basketball program and also plays travel basketball. In the future, he hopes to play basketball in college and would like to become a pilot. Lukas spends his free time working on his basketball skills.

Julia Trench
Sophomore
English
The English Department tabbed Julia Trench as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, she most enjoys English classes and choir. Described as a one-of-a-kind student whose efforts are significantly above expectations, she is universally respected by classmates, teammates and teachers. Julia is a member of the Drama Club, Speech Team, Film Club, Student Council, and The Spark literary magazine, and has appeared in the Spring Musical. She also has earned induction to the International Thespian Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society, and is active in ballet and theatre outside of school. Julia hopes to pursue studies in fine arts in college, and has future aspirations ranging from booking a Broadway to show to serving as an early childhood educator. She enjoys singing, dancing, piano, guitar, and songwriting.

Alexis Kopinski
Junior
Center for Academic Vision & Excellence
Alexis Kopinski was cited as the Junior Student of the Month by the Center for Academic Vision & Excellence (CAVE). Alexis is a high honor roll student who has most enjoyed AP Physics and Biology Honors. She truly elevates the environment around her and goes out of her way to support her peers, especially as a CAVE tutor. Alexis has earned induction to several honor societies, is part of the girls’ soccer and girls’ tennis programs, and is involved in Leo Club, Student Council, Yearbook Club, and Link Crew, among other activities. She also attends Polish School and is a violinist and pianist who generates charitable donations with her music. While she has years of studying ahead, she knows she wants to work with people. Alexis enjoys outdoor activities, reading, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Ava DeMaio
Senior
Social Studies
The Social Studies Department named Ava DeMaio as the Senior Student of the Month. Ava is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes have included AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics. She has proven to be an excellent leader in all aspects of her high school career. Ava is a key player on the girls’ soccer team, a member of the Student Council, and is Vice President of the National English Honor Society and President of the Gold Rush. An AP Scholar with Distinction and Illinois State Scholar, she also is a Rho Kappa inductee and member of the Baking Club, World Languages Club, and Link Crew. Ava has done a public health internship working with Bauchi, Nigeria, raising money to build clinics and improve health. She plans on majoring in economics in college before moving on to law school. Ava works part-time and enjoys traveling, baking, watching movies, and hanging out with family and friends.
