The Health Department named Eleanor Adams as the Freshman Student of the Month. A high honor roll student, Eleanor lists Biology Honors as her current favorite course. She is a member of the Speech Team, contributes to The Spark literary magazine, and is part of the Principal’s Student Advisory Committee. Eleanor’s teachers note that she frequently participates in class, adds thoughtful comments to discussions, and is willing to help her peers. It is evident she has an interest in learning and values education. Eleanor also has been recognized for her work by the Art Department this year. Her immediate goals include taking history classes each year and making a difference in her community during her time at Lemont High School. She participates in figure skating and enjoys volunteering, reading, writing, and wildlife.

Driver Education
Erika Salaviejus was selected as the Sophomore Student of the Month by the Driver Education Department. Erika is a high honor roll student who most enjoys English classes; she currently is enrolled in both English II and Communications. Her teachers describe her as an excellent student who brings a great attitude to class each day. This energy helps to make the classroom atmosphere more enjoyable. Erika works diligently in and out of class to become the best student possible. She takes Driver Education seriously and often leads class discussions. In the future, Erika hopes to pursue studies in education and would like to be a teacher who works with little kids. In her free time, she likes hanging out with friends, watching movies, and completing her school work.

Student Services

The Student Services Department cited Alexis Frey as the Junior Student of the Month. An honor roll performer, Alexis says she most enjoys her internship working with students in the Special Education Department’s LIFE program because she likes building memorable relationships with her peers and helping them learn and grow. She is a member of the girls’ track and field team, and also serves as a manager within the girls’ basketball program. Her teachers applaud her energy, empathy, and strong communication skills, and appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond what is asked of her. Alexis plans to attend a four-year college and hopes to become both an occupational therapist and a teacher. She babysits for two families in her spare time.

Special Education

Katelynn Carnahan was tabbed as the Senior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. Katelynn is a high honor roll student who most enjoys English and history. She is enrolled in College Writing within the English Department, and took Local History last semester. Katelynn is a member of both the Leo Club and the Drama Club, and has participated in the Spring Musical. Her teachers note that while she has been through many challenges, she has shown an exceptional capacity to overcome them. Katelynn features a determination, maturity, and focused intensity, and she advocates well for herself. While she is unsure of her future plans at this time, her resilience, perseverance and grit are likely to help her succeed in all of her endeavors.
