Anna Carney was selected as the Freshman Student of the Month by the Health Department. Anna is a high honor roll student who most enjoys science courses, including her current science placement in Biology Honors. She is a member of the badminton program, and also plays in the Concert Band and is part of the Color Guard. Anna’s teachers note she consistently is engaged in class and actively participates in discussions. She regularly contributes thoughtful answers and adds value to the learning environment. She also features a positive attitude and strong work ethic. In the future, Anna hopes to become a psychiatrist or otherwise work in the medical field. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, sketching, and hanging out with her dog.

Driver Education

The Driver Education Department tabbed Aarav Anand as the Sophomore Student of the Month. A high honor roll performer, Aarav most enjoys STEM-related classes such as Integrated Math II Honors and Biology Honors. Exceptionally hard working and mature, he consistently demonstrates a high level of responsibility. He is punctual and prepared, a reliable presence in the classroom, and shows a genuine commitment to his studies. Aarav participates in the boys’ tennis program and also plays at Lockport Challenge Fitness. He is a member of the Health Occupations Student Association and Mathletes team, and was a Future Business Leaders of America state qualifier. Aarav plans to pursue a career in the medical field. He plans to caddy this summer and enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with his family.

Special Education

Liam Brown was cited as the Junior Student of the Month by the Special Education Department. Liam is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes are science and Food Preparation. An outstanding student, his nickname in class is “Teacher Liam.” He is willing to help his fellow students with anything from pulling out a chair to assisting with classroom chores. Liam also is a prankster, full of laughter and joy, who brings smiles to the faces of everyone in class. He has grown tremendously in his social-emotional awareness, and answers questions without hesitation and with a smile. He has settled into a strong routine and approaches tasks with confidence. One of Liam’s goals is to start a YouTube channel on gaming. He enjoys watching football and baseball, playing video games, and watching YouTube videos to learn how to fix cars.

Annabella DeMaio

Student Services

The Student Services Department named Annabella DeMaio as the Senior Student of the Month. A high honor roll performer, her favorite subjects include English and Culinary Arts. Bella has been a member of the varsity girls’ soccer team for four years and helped the team to four conference championships. She also has been part of the Student Council for four years and the Gold Rush for two years. Her upbeat and optimistic personality always are on display, whether in the Main Office as an office assistant or in the classroom or soccer field. Bella is a prime example of someone whose attitude can positively impact others. She leads with empathy and respect, and her authenticity strengthens school culture. Bella will attend North Central College and plans to become a radiology technologist. She has worked part-time at Old Navy for four years.
