Finished as the third-place team in the 1980 IHSA Class A Girls’ Basketball Tournament, still the best finish in school history... set a single-season school record for wins (since broken) after compiling a 23-6 record... finished 8-2 in the Northeast Conference and tied for the league title... became the school’s first program to earn an IHSA State Series trophy... topped Chicago Christian (50-44) to win the IHSA Regional title, and toppled Wilmington (60-43) to win the IHSA Sectional crown... bested Immaculate Conception (70-46) to capture the IHSA Super-Sectional title... defeated Morrison (44-32) in the IHSA Class A State Quarterfinals, but fell short against Benton (46-40) in the semifinals... capped the season by topping Carlinville (62-37) in the third-place game... set a state record for the fewest team turnovers (12) in a three-game IHSA State Series... team was coached by future Illinois High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Famer Bill Bozue... Brenda Holford, Cheryl Paxson and Marge Sniegowski all were named to the IHSA All-Tournament Second Team... Sniegowski earned Joliet Herald News first-team all-area honors, while Holford was named to the second team, and Paxson and Rita Schulz were cited on the third team.
