Standout basketball player who starred for Lemont for three seasons (1962-65)... named to the All-Fox Valley Conference team as both a junior in 1964 and as a senior in 1965... also tabbed as an honorable mention Little All-State selection and as a Joliet Herald News all-suburban pick in 1965... won his squad’s “Free Throw” and “Rebounding” awards as a senior, when he also ranked among the state’s top 10 percent in field goal shooting by a post player... also played three seasons of football for Lemont (1962-64)... caught 25 passes for 307 yards to earn All-Fox Valley Conference and Joliet Herald News all-suburban honors as a tight end... named “Most Athletic” in his graduating class... earned a basketball scholarship to Oglethorpe University (Atlanta, Ga.), for whom he played for four seasons... led the Petrels in rebounds and free throw percentage as a sophomore in 1966-67... member of the 1968-69 squad that went 24-5, earned a No. 1 national ranking and an NCAA Division II Regional Championship, and was inducted to the Oglethorpe Athletic Hall of Fame.
