Each Illinois school board member who is elected or appointed to fill a vacancy of at least one year's duration must receive professional development leadership training (PDLT) and Open Meetings Act (OMA) training. Mandatory training also is required upon Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) implementation. (Board Policy 2:120)
Becoming a Board Member
The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education includes seven individuals, and the terms of these board members are staggered so that three or four seats are available at each biennial election.
An individual is eligible to serve as a board member if, on the date of election or appointment, he/she is a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and District 210 for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and a registered voter. Reasons for ineligibility are detailed in Board Policy 2:40 (Board Member Qualifications).
Elections are held in conjunction with the Consolidated Election in April of each odd-numbered year. The canvass of votes is conducted by the local election authority no more than 21 days after the election. Board Policy 2:30 (School District Elections) provides details on school board elections.
District 210 is located in Cook and DuPage Counties and falls under the election authority of the Cook County Clerk.
