This service is free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. How will attendance be taken?
Students will complete ONE attendance form per day. Students will be sent a link to that day's attendance form via e-mail each morning. Students must complete the attendance form by 11 a.m. each day.

How do I report a student absence?
Parents/guardians should report student absences due to illness or other circumstances as they normally would. Please call (630) 243-3202 to report the absence no later than 11 a.m. of the day of the absence.

When will teachers be available for students to contact?
Teachers are expected to be available virtually and respond to digital communication in a timely manner between 8 a.m.-2:37 p.m. Questions about daily work should be submitted to teachers by noon in order to give teachers time to respond so that students can meet the assignment deadline. Messages sent after regular school hours should receive a response the next school day.

What days will be eLearning Days?
eLearning activities will be employed on the following days: March 17-20, March 23-27, and each school day from April 8-30. There will be no eLearning activities during Spring Break. Additional eLearning activities will be scheduled if the decision is made for school to remain closed past April 30.

What schedule will be followed on eLearning Days?
Please click here for an updated calendar for April 2020.

What will students do on eLearning Days?
Students will access assignments through Google Classroom, just as they would while present in school. Appropriate classroom updates - including lessons and assignments - will be posted daily by 8 a.m. Students should check their e-mail and Google Classroom messages periodically each day and respond as needed. Some Special Education students may require a different format for assignments; the student's case manager will contact the parents/guardians directly with alternative plans.

How often should students expect assignments in their classes?
Teachers will appropriately move learning forward in their courses, and assignments should be substantial, yet manageable. Some assignments may be longer term, while some may be required to be completed within a shorter time period. Due dates will be clearly noted for each assignment, as will the method by which students can turn it in.

What should students do if they have difficulty accessing material?
Students currently access class assignments through Google Classroom each day. A student who has difficulty doing so during an eLearning Day should contact his/her teacher.

How do students obtain required materials that cannot be distributed electronically?
If a teacher needs to provide physical resources to students (i.e., novels, workbooks, art supplies), the teacher will make the item(s) available from the Security Office inside the main entrance (directions) and communicate with students when those items may be picked up.

Will students receive grades during eLearning Days?
Lemont High School teachers will continue to monitor students' progress and assess students' performance, and students will continue to receive feedback from teachers and receive grades for their assignments. 

The Illinois State Board of Education strongly encourages that school districts' local grading policies during remote learning embrace the principle of "no educational harm to any child."

While in-person instruction is suspended, students only have the opportunity to SUCCEED in their classes. Students cannot earn a grade lower than what their grade was in a particular course on March 17, but they absolutely can improve their grades.

During remote learning, grades for assignments and assessments will be counted ONLY if such grades will improve a student's overall grade in the class.

Additionally, students can make up work, re-do work, and/or resubmit any work from the entire semester if it will help improve their overall grades in any course.

There will be no traditional "final exams" this semester, but teachers will have the opportunity to implement appropriate end-of-semester activities in their courses.

Will there be grades assigned in dual credit classes?
Yes. The colleges that issue the credits for these courses require that students continue to receive grades for work assigned during the COVID-19 related school closure. Students and parents/guardians should contact the course's teacher to learn more about the grading requirements.

Will Advanced Placement exams be delayed?
On March 20, the College Board provided the following updates on Advanced Placement exams:

• There will be no traditional face-to-face AP Exam administration this spring. It will be replaced by 45-minute online exams for most AP courses.
• AP Exams have been scheduled from May 11-22. Please click here for the exam schedule.
• Daily online review classes will begin on Wednesday, March 25, at the AP YouTube Channel.
• Additional updates will be made available at AP Central.

What if a student does not have internet access at home?
Students without internet access should contact Principal Eric Michaelsen at either emichaelsen@lhs210.net or (630) 243-3225.

Comcast is providing 60 days of free internet access for K-12 students who live in qualifying low-income households. Please click here to apply for the program.

Will there be technical support available for students?
Students who need assistance with their Chromebooks or other technical support should contact the Help Desk at lhshelpdesk@s.lhs210.net or (630) 243-7902. Messages will be returned by the next school day. Students should contact the Help Desk via e-mail to request a loaner Chromebook or discuss Chromebook repairs. Students are encouraged to consult the Chromebook Troubleshooting Guide for Students prior to contacting the Help Desk for support.

Will students still be able to receive services related to social work, psychology or counseling?
Yes. Related service providers will be in contact with these students and their parents/guardians.

Will my student with accommodations still receive them on eLearning Days?
Yes. Students with IEPs or 504 plans who typically have accommodations provided in the classroom or for assignments/assessments still will have those provided when applicable and when it is possible to provide the accommodation in electronic format. If necessary, an alternative assignment may be provided. Parents/guardians should contact the student's classroom teacher first, and the student's case manager or counselor as needed.

Will parents/guardians come to the building for IEP or 504 meetings?
No. IEP and 504 plan meetings will be conducted via phone or electronic means. If that is not an option for a parent/guardian, meetings will be rescheduled as quickly as possible when school resumes.
