Class of 2023

Members of the Class of 2023 will receive their caps and gowns and graduation tickets on Friday, May 12, during lunch periods. Students must wear their caps and gowns if they intend to participate in the ceremony.

A student will not be issued a cap and gown and graduation tickets if he/she has not resolved all of his/her obligations, including any student fees that still are owed, or if he/she is failing a course that is required for graduation.

Each graduate will receive seven tickets for seating in the Stadium. No additional tickets are available from the school. If you need additional tickets, you are encouraged to obtain them from another graduate who may not be using his/her allotted share. Admission will be restricted to those with tickets.

Graduation practice will be held on Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m. All students participating in the ceremony must attend the rehearsal, which will be held in the Field House. Only seniors with valid parking permits will be allowed to park on campus for the Graduation rehearsal.

Students must report to their assigned locations no later than 6:30 p.m. on May 19.

While there is no assigned dress code, students are expected to dress appropriately under their gowns. Students are not permitted to decorate their caps and gowns.

Students exhibiting improper behavior will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony. This includes students who have altered their caps and gowns.
 

Parking will be available in all five of the school’s lots, as well as the parking garage.

Handicapped parking is available in all lots, but there will not be additional spots reserved for individuals with specific needs. Golf cart transportation will be available for these individuals at either the Archway entrance (North Lot) or Performing Arts Center entrance (PAC Lot or Parking Garage).

Gates will open for general admission seating at 6 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and will be available in both the home and visitor bleachers, as well as on the football field.

Guests with special seating needs are encouraged to arrive at Graduation by 5:45 p.m. and will be seated directly behind the graduates on the football field. All members of a party that includes someone with special seating needs will be permitted to sit on the football field if they wish to do so. Reservations are not required for individuals with special seating needs.

We are planning a memorable ceremony with the dignity befitting commencement. Our intent is to ensure all attendees are treated to an enjoyable experience, which includes affording parents and guests an opportunity to see their graduates walk across the stage and hear their names as they are read. Please be considerate of ALL graduates and refrain from yelling or cheering during the ceremony.

In order for all participants and guests to be able to enjoy the ceremony, gift-giving should be reserved for after the ceremony. An individual bringing items to the ceremony that may block the view of others and disrupt the ceremony will be asked to return those items to his or her car.

Parents/guardians may preorder flowers and other commemorative items for their graduates thanks to an arrangement with The Commencement Group. Items will be available for pickup onsite at the ceremony. A portion of the sales will benefit Lemont High School.

Personalized graduation signs and class t-shirts were distributed to students in class prior to Spring Break.

Lemont High School has retained Visual Image Photography to photograph each graduate as he/she receives his/her diploma. State laws prohibit the use of tobacco on school grounds at all times.

There is a risk for inclement weather, including rain, at an outdoor ceremony. Participants and attendees should plan appropriately. If school administrators determine the weather will not allow for a positive experience for our graduates and their guests, the ceremony will be rescheduled for Saturday, May 20, or Sunday, May 21. The rescheduled date and time will depend on weather forecasts.

The Graduation ceremony will be streamed live and will be available to view from the school’s YouTube channel.

On Thursday, May 4, the Lemont High School Counseling Department will hold "Decision Day" activities for the Class of 2023. Seniors are encouraged to wear gear to celebrate their future plans, whether that includes college or trade school, enlisting in the military, or joining the workforce. Counselors will be in the Commons during lunch periods to facilitate photos for our soon-to-be graduates.

Senior Awards Night will be held on Wednesday, May 17. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Performing Arts Center.

Students who will be honored with an award or a scholarship at this event will receive invitations by the first week of May. While all invited students will be recognized at some point in the evening, not all students who are invited will receive a scholarship.

After Graduation, Lemont High School will host Project Graduation, an all-night, chemical-free party that will provide members of the Class of 2023 with an outing that is both safe and fun on the night of their Graduation. Held on campus, the party is organized by parents/guardians, faculty and members of the community, and is intended to not only provide a good time, but also reduce the chance of any student being involved in an alcohol- or drug-related accident.
 
Project Graduation offers a variety of supervised activities, as well as food, music and raffles. Check-in for Project Graduation begins at 10:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center entrance, and no student will be admitted after 11:30 p.m. Students are expected to spend all night; parents/guardians will be notified if a student leaves before the party ends.
 
No guests are invited to Project Graduation; only members of the Class of 2023 may attend. The cost of a Project Graduation ticket is $20.

Lemont High School does not condone or acknowledge the day known as senior ditch day. School attendance is important each day. As we approach the end of the year, students are involved in cumulative projects, and an absence can be even more detrimental.

As part of ditch day activities, students often make poor choices by engaging in dangerous activities, such as drinking and driving. Missing school for ditch day is an unexcused absence, and students will be held accountable for that absence. For students who have multiple unexcused absences, this could result in being dropped from a class or classes, and could affect graduation status for those students.

Lemont High School asks for our parents’ support in stressing the importance of attendance.
